More About the Author

Steve's first book 'Unlimited Sports Success- the Power of Hypnosis' was published in 2001 and documents his work with athletes. Currently still in print (search for ISBN: 0595186106).
As a teenager at School, Steve sustained a hand injury severing his right ring finger almost losing it altogether. Fortunately surgeons were able to suture the said digit back on leaving him with permanent partial sensation and associated 'real' and projected pains.
This life event had an influence decades later with pain control, phantom limb pain and nerve sensations becoming an interest of his, eventually leading Mycoe to conduct Psychological research involving amputees mainly using Hypnosis to assist with sports pain control to focus whilst in pain, also becoming the basis of his latest book.
Steve is one of the only Hypnotherapists in the UK who works almost exclusively with athletes and fitness enthusiasts. This makes him a sought after specialist in this area and often the first contact by Olympic teams and professional athletes. Steve has worked with professionals from all over the world including British, American and Chinese Olympic teams. His system has been used by Premiership football players, members of the Police shooting squad and TV personalities.
Mycoe's work in sports and pain control has drawn him into the fascinating and complex world of adaptive sports. He is always delighted to hear from disabled athletes.
Mycoe has published over 60 audio CD's and Four paperback books to date.

From the Author

Duplicate past results, build new successes and live your dreams. For most of my life I have participated in numerous sports, from my early days Cycle racing to Boxing and Bodybuilding. The types of people and varying degrees of success that they achieve in sport, has continued to interest me. I first became aware of sports hypnosis at University preparing with the Boxing Squad to fight. With success in muscle building I’d already developed techniques to encourage enhancements through the mind/body connection. However, I had yet to discover how diverse and powerful hypnosis could be. Interestingly out of ten Boxers in the squad we all reacted differently to competition pressures. How were all these experiences so different, we’d all had the same coach? How is it that some athletes attain good results over and over again when others with similar physiques and training routines just can not make the grade? The distribution of my Hypnotic CD’s through my website took my work to a wider international audience. With my unique system that includes the ‘removal of barriers to growth’ they have become best sellers. The publication of ‘Unlimited Sports Success’ is a compilation of my work and experiences both as an athlete and Mind Coach. You will notice that this book is written for athletes of every kind, there are case studies from Football, Basketball, Golf and Equestrian activities to name just a few. You will see that the mind is the foundation of all activities, everything begins with the mind.

5.0 out of 5 stars Football Skills Unlimited!!! 4 Nov 2001
By A Customer
Format:Paperback
Unlimited Sports Success does not claim to make an amateur into a professional, there are too many other variants in the world, but it does explain a great deal about what goes on in the mind of the athlete. Aspects that we can all use. I find myself constantly returning to this book as my life progresses and other tips become relevant, I often find myself remembering something Stephen wrote thus return to the book for some advice.
I have lent this book out on so many occasions in the past, but now am keen to keep it in my own hands as it is often tough to get it back. The reason the book is so sought after from my friends is that it deals with so many different sports. My father stole it for his Golfing advice, my cousin wanted to increase his Martial Arts internal energy (whatever that means!) my Sister wants to lose weight (whilst continuing to stuff her face!) and I need it for my Football skills.
If you choose to buy this book - take my advice write your name in the front cover!

'Unlimited Sports Success' is not only a book about hypnosis in sport but covers many aspects of psychology and life generally. Steve attacks the notion that mind and body are separate entities and reveals how each one of us can develop our performances by directing specific goals for our bodies to achieve.
You are led in stages through the book so gradually you become aware of why and how hypnosis and mind and body work so well together. The second part of the book concentrates on specific scripts for personal use. In the past I have read books which tell you what to do but not how to put them into positive action. This book gives you many examples of real life scripts and case studies for various sports and Body Enhancements.

2.0 out of 5 stars Poorly written 16 Dec 2010
By Mike Gadell - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
I've read only the first twenty pages of this book, and it's difficult to continue because the grammar, spelling, and punctuation are so bad it's hard to understand what the author is trying to say. Granted, he's British and I'm American, and there are always differences in our respective spellings and uses of the English language. I'm fine with those differences. I've read other British-authored material, and done quite well with it, but the errors I'm talking about are just plain comma splices, stray quotation marks, unnecessary capital letters, sentence fragments, missing apostrophes, etc. I'll probably stay with it, because I'm quite interested in the subject, and I expect he will present some information I can learn. I am a writer, too, and it pains me to try to read this book. Unfortunately this book, self-published through iUniverse, is a great example of books that give self-publishing a bad reputation. An editor could have made this into something enjoyable to read.

4.0 out of 5 stars Inspirational but not psychology 31 Aug 2007
By J. S. Butler - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
This book is intended to be an inspirational presentation by an athletic coach or trainer, not a psychology book. So the reader needs to be a little forgiving at times about assertions with no citations for claims. I actually found the book useful, and I am sure the author can motivate an athlete or team.
