Not as nasty as I expected,

Having bought the original Horse Racing game as a present a couple of years back and played the Motor Racing game not long before I was a bit disappointed at the lack of nastiness! The rules are a little complex for my younger children and many of the nasty cards don't get used when we play it. There is a "non-nasty" version of the game and I'm almost tempted just to play that. Still it's fun, especially if you're a golf player, but I felt not as good as the horse or motor racing versions.

This is really a very good game, I do feel however that the rules could be tweaked with some house rules, but this does not mean that the present rules are bad. 6 Dice are used and only when you play the game as a normal golf game, without the nasty cards do you use the white die, as this tells you a random direction that the ball lands from the tee. I played this on my own and my other fictional opponent was well behind until the last hole, when I landed just by the lake in some rough, and it took me 16 shots to sink the ball. oooops!!
The components are very well made, apart from the 'nasty cards', (at least they are being honest) which even though nicely glossy, could have been made from thicker card. I can see that eventually they will just part company from the backing and split. Don't expect a deep simulation here, just decisions before and after the dice roll, and well, just roll and move the ball. I do like it however, and the only reason for a mediocre rating, this is due for the 'nasty' feel to the cards. I have a number of games that require a lot of thought and are very deep, but this is a pleasant change from that sort of game. Not rocket science, but still very enjoyable, and I would think that with friends around, could be as evil to play as the excellent 'nasty horse racing'. I repeat the lower rating is only because of the cards. The game is very good. If anyone out there makes up more rules that make it even more interesting, I would be very interested to hear.

This is a really fun game, and probably the only way a golf board game could work. Even for a keen golfer like me playing a 'straight' golf game would quickly lose interest.
This is great fun, for example my mate hit two great 'shots' and needed to roll only 2 or more on the dice for a birdie which he duly did, until I played a really nasty card meaning he missed the ball and could only manage a par instead.
