'This a racy read and the two stories flow into each other seamlessly. Each one of us must have thought at some point what our lives would be like had we taken a different route and this plot just hits a nerve.'

4.0 out of 5 stars Something a little different 21 Sep 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Being an avid reader of chic lit i feel like i can pretty much predict where a story is going or guess certain plot twists. I'm always trying to figure out where certain books are going to lead. As i read this book it occurred to me that i wasn't doing my usual guessing games. The characters, both versions, and the plot had me totally hooked.
I loved Jess, and reading about her alternative timeline was so interesting. Such a simple idea, one always wonders 'what if', and here was a book, in a genre i love, exploring that concept.
The humour was spot on for me and i read it in a day. Not that it's a short book, it's pretty meaty, but i just could not put it down.

If you are into authors such as Marian Keyes, Lindsay Kelk and Gemma Burgess i would definitely recommend picking this up.

Really fun!

5.0 out of 5 stars A fun and entertaining read 9 Oct 2012
By Flozza
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Having read Anna Bell's previous book (Millie and the American Wedding), I was looking forward to see what her next one had in store. I found this novel fun, witty and it kept me entertained until the very end.

The amusing plot line provided an interesting take on the 'what might have been' stories and I enjoyed this angle exploring the impact of the choices that we make. I also really enjoyed the business world context and thought this provided a clever backdrop to the story, placing it in a real world setting that feels credible to a reader.

The characters are believable and well written, allowing you to identify with them. She cleverly creates two distinct personalities in Jess and Jessica but also managed to leave me feeling that they were intrinsically the same person, or had been in the past.

I would definitely recommend Universally Challenged as an enjoyable and entertaining read.

5.0 out of 5 stars The challenge was all mine 9 Sep 2012

Having whizzed through Anna's hilarious first book, Millie and the American Wedding, I purchased her second immediately it came out - and whizzed through it just as quick!

Cleverly written, I found the text challenged me not only to work out and keep up with which was which in which situation but also how I would have dealt with being "swopped" as it were.

If anyone wants an extremely imaginary trip to go on do read Universally Challenged, it will make you chuckle and it will certainly make you think.

Keep up, have fun readers and bring out your next book soon Anna.

4.0 out of 5 stars Holiday read
Very much 'sliding doors', loved the two universes and though in some ways the story was predictable it is what I want to completely shut off on holiday, nothing taxing.

A charming story with a Sliding Doors theme. A story about discovering the missing pieces in life. A real shame about the poor spelling and grammar throughout. Read more
