Out of all the protein blends out there Proton 7 is my favorite. Coming from Universal Nutrition you know it's high quality stuff, too. Proton 7 has a blend of, yep, you guessed it, seven different proteins ranging from ultra fast absorbing to really slow. I can't remember them all off the top of my head, but it's got the most important ones like Whey Hydrolysate, Micellar Casein, Egg Albumen and Whey Isolate. This is the type of protein powder that is perfect for post workout and before going to sleep because of the slow absorbing proteins in it.
So what about taste? Some people say taste doesn't matter. Those people are lying to themselves or they are not getting enough protein intake daily for muscle growth. I drink on average 3 protein shakes a day and personally I like to somewhat enjoy my shakes. No, they don't have to taste like a Sara Lee cheesecake, but I also don't want it tasting so bad it causes me to have an angry look on my face ;) I think the nastiest protein powder I ever had was one by Cellucor. This was about 3 years or so back and it literally tasted like gun powder. Awful. But I digress.... Proton 7 tastes sublime! I like it because it's not overly sweet, but has a subtle flavor to it. I've tried the Cookies and Cream and Chocolate Milkshake flavors and it's hard for me to pick a fave. Probably Cookies by a slight edge. The flavoring is the type that the longer you gulp the richer the flavor gets.
Mixability is a cinch with this stuff. I mix each scoop with 8 ounces of milk and shake in a blender ball cup for about 10 seconds and there is never any clumping or floaters or even any gump in the bottom. Mixed with milk it's kind of thick, but not overly so, and that's how I like it. The texture of this protein, when mixed up, is very smooth. No weird aftertaste, either! What I really like about Proton 7 is that I can take a scoop and half before I go to bed and I don't wake up hungry in the middle of the night like I do with a lot of protein blends, including straight micellar casein powders. It seems when I wake up my muscles feel fuller and more recovered when taking it the night before.
You can get a 2.5 lb tub of this stuff for around $30 to $35 bucks and that's a good deal, as far as I'm concerned, for a protein that's as high quality as Proton 7 is. I initially bought the 2.5lb tubs of this to "try it out" but once I got hooked on it I started buying the 5lb tubs. Five pound tubs are about $50 depending on where you shop. Allstar Health has the best price on them. Twenty three grams of protein per scoop and there are 26 scoops in a 2.5 lb container. Double that for the five pounder. To some, Proton 7 may be a bit pricey, but the old saying you get what you pay for it is in full effect here. Compared to other top brands like MuscleTech's Phase 8, Controlled Labs Pronom 23, ABB's Pure Pro Powder etc. Universal Nutrition has Proton 7 priced competitively. I've tried those protein powders I just mentioned and they are really high quality, and I do like them, but I just like Proton 7 a bit more.
For a very high quality, full spectrum protein blend you simply can't go wrong with Proton 7. Taste, price, mixability, quality: Universal got has got it all in the bag on this one. Did you expect anything less from a company whose has been a frontrunner in the supplement industry for 35 years? Universal Nutrition is a top notch supp company and so is their Proton 7. Try it and see if you don't agree!
BTW, as an added bonus there is 5 grams of fiber per scoop to help you poop!! LOL:)

Good stuff, I was disappointed that it has artificial sweeteners. I wish that Amazon would do a better job always showing labels!
