5.0 out of 5 stars They're back! 31 Dec 2006
By R.Diver
Format:Audio CD
This album is amazing. Their last outing, The Book Of Heavy Metal was a brillant cd. I didn't think they could top it, and with Gus G and Snowy Shaw leaving, it seemed dire. But they pulled it off. This is one of the best albums of the year in my view. The songs are catchy, the solos rule. And on the song, My Number One, Gus and Snowy are back.

I'd recommend this album to fans of power metal, or true metal!

5.0 out of 5 stars the best album of 2006 15 Feb 2007
Format:Audio CD
fire! battle! in metal! i live for the metal metal! screaming! in lightning! i fight for the metal i die for the metal

any band that can have that as the chorus for the opening song is deserving of your attention if you like metal. the entirety of this album is so deliciously 1985 it beggers belief and it is staggeringly good. big riffs loony solos high pitched vocals in a dio/dickinson styleee all add up to an album that is so much im sure that technically it should be illegal.

if you like hammerfall(and want to hear how it should be done) or dragonforce(and want to hear a song aswell as guitar heroics) then this band are for you. i mean come on they even include a power ballad!!!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Awsome PowerMetal 22 Feb 2007
By David M. Kane - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
I can't believe I'm the first person to review this album... 4 months after its release... unless this is a special version and i didn't realize? C'mon people! If you like Hammerfall and the like then you can't miss this release! Dream Evil are straigh up hard core power metal. They got all the cheese you would expect but they do it well, very well. Good head bangin metal right here. If you haven't experienced Dream Evil then start with the Book of Heavy Metal. This album isn't as good as that 5 star release but its still 4 stars strong! Every Song keeps you interested and the musicianship is still top notch. I still can't believe I'm the first reviewer. This album came out in Oct of 06 and its almost March of 07. C'mon... calling all metal heads! Buy (or download, he he) United by Dream Evil (and The Book of Heavy Metal if you don't already have it).

This cd is simply AMAZING. Kicks butt from start to finish. Of all 4 studio cds that Dream Evil has released this is by far the best one. My fav songs are "Fire battle in Metal," " United" and Kingdon at war" Excellent melodic power metal.

4.0 out of 5 stars Dream Evil keeps fighting...for METAL! 1 Oct 2011
By Justin G. - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
2006's United is the fourth full-length release from Swedish power metal warriors Dream Evil. If you're not familiar with the band, Dream Evil was formed by noted producer (and guitarist) Fredrik Nordstrom and plays straightforward melodic power metal with a traditional metal lyrical approach. Think Dragonforce with a little less speed, or a less earnest Hammerfall. Either way you're going to get a bunch of catchy metal anthems about being metal, fighting for metal, standing together (for metal) and so forth. Cheesy, but all in good fun, and the music does rock.

Anyway, back to United. There's really nothing here you couldn't have found on the previous three Dream Evil albums, and that's perfectly OK. The band does this kind of power metal quite well, and how can you complain about monster anthems like "Fire! Battle! In Metal!," "Evilution" and "Back From the Dead?" You get great headbanging riffs, killer melodies, powerful vocals and a pristine production, which is what you expect from this metal crew. Former members Gus G. and Snowy Shaw even drop by for guest appearances.

They may not be breaking any new ground, but if you're into this band that's probably not reason for complaint. United is another killer release from a band that reminds us all not to take this stuff so seriously all the time. Turn it up and prepare for battle!

Edition Notes: Early versions of United come with a bonus disc featuring an additional five studio songs.

4.0 out of 5 stars Dream Evil Power Metal 6 Feb 2014

While some reviewers say that you cant take them or at least their lyrics serious, Dream Evil says that they are serious about their music mixed with some good ole school lyrics about how great metal and the fans devoted to it are. This mixed with of course stories of warriors and dragons, that's pretty much the stuff of power metal isn't it. Take Hammerfall for instance, who is evidently a big influence on them.

I came upon this band recently on Youtube while searching for new music to add to my collection and really liked them. So I bought all of their cds and have to say that I enjoy them all. This is metal, not thrashy not death not black , just good ole head banging , fist pumping , fun metal. The singer could easily front any metal band , and is very good at the craft, while the band riffs , rocks and solos thru each song.

I like to think that they are a mix of the early bands Sword and Armored Saint. I would highly suggest them to any real fan of metal out there who is looking to expand their library of good metal. Finland continues to give us some of the best rock , and metal out there today in many bands. Those people for sure love their metal !
