This story starts well, with a series of fairly horrific events unfolding from a terrorist bomb attack in a London club. There is a sense of urgency and drama about it, and I was carried along to about halfway through. It was at that point that the story began to become bogged down with references to past history, not from the UNIT series by Big Finish, but to the BBC's revamped Doctor Who. Well and good if you happen to have watched it, but I didn't. So I found myself floundering, especially when it turned out the whole basis of the plot was past history from the 'New Doctor Who'. The feeling of tension and suspense was replaced with irritation and tedium, as I waited for characters that have NOT featured in any of the prior UNIT audio dramas to fulfil their revenge for past events also NOT featured in any of the audio dramas. Quite apart from that, the plot when revealed was a thinly disguised rant about patriotism (which apparently inevitably leads to racist terrorism). Rather than neatly slotting together into a cunning plan, it fell apart in a string of increasingly meaningless and stupid ploys which served only to bring about the grand finale, in which characters I had no prior knowledge of or interest in, concluded a plotline of which I never encountered the start. I am not criticising the performers, who did their best to deliver on the material, and I suppose if I were a New Doctor devotee it would have made more sense, but for anyone looking for a stand-alone drama (or even one which continues a series of independent UNIT stories), this is a real waste of time.
