Dedicated 9v battery chargers are surprisingly rare. This one offers two slots on an 8 hour charge for a 170 battery.

At first I thought the 'ready' light was on a timer rather than cutting out when the battery is full. I'm not entirely sure if its timed or if it works by 'sensing' when the battery is reaching maximum charge. This can be important, as overcharging a battery can be a fire risk. The instructions aren't a whole lot of help, simply saying that you should not mix two different types of batteries. It doesn't say why you shouldn't mix them, so I'm not sure if this is not simply a case of being over-cautious on the maunfacturer's part or a genuine safety risk.

It takes several hours to charge a battery - about eight for mine. I use them for my effects pedals which eat through a 9v battery in about four hours, so I spend twice as long charging them as I do using them. Nonetheless, it has save me a fortune in new batteries. Charging two at once is a real boon, too. In fact, I'm considering buying a second unit so I can charge up to four at once. Its worth pointing out that batteries only cost a few pence to charge compared to paying nearly a fiver for a non-rechargeable one, so it really is cost-effective. The downside is that they have a limited lifespan - about 500 uses maximum, it says on the box. The battery that comes with the unit has quite a high capacity and is a top-range product, which was a pleasant surprise.

The price is good, but if I could find a faster one I would do. 8 hours seems impractical, but is actually fast for a 9v charger. As this is the only unit that offers high speed charging I have to recommend it.

9 volt charger for PP3 nickel/manganese & nickel/cadmium batteries ( the rectangular ones). Holds 2 batteries & has a light indicating charging for each one which goes out once finished. Good price, nice & compact, plugs direct into a mains socket (no wander leads or wall warts) & does the job.

this charger is good value. most people have chargers for aa or aaa batteries but there are few dual 9v chargers, so for me this was just what i needed. i have two cat scarers one can be run on the power lead but the other i like to move round the garden, yes they work by the way. the movable one uses two 9v batteries so i would have to have bought 2 chargers normally so for me this is cheap. the charger has individual red led's to show charging and it does not hang too low out the wall when plugged in like some of my usb chargers (most restricting). does the job well and cheaply, very happy with it and you get one 9v battery......

Uniross Battery Charger
Three stars (meaning "it's OK") 'cos I can't get really excited about a battery charger. It does what it says on the tin.
