5.0 out of 5 stars Couldn't put it down, 19 Aug 2002

I have waited a long time for a good story with Union Jack, ever since I first saw him in Marvel Comics Presents. His stint in the Knights of the Pendragon was disapointing, and in Sub-Mariner he was used a hired muscle.
Mr Raab and Mr Cassaday have done a great job in breathing life in the character, giving supporting cast and they even got the flag the right way up. The story does not shy away from any of the past apperences of Union Jack and the supporting charaters, and has enough darkness and wit to read like a good episode of Angle. A real treat, but I wish there was more to come.

4.0 out of 5 stars A spiffing tome, 24 Aug 2007

I enjoyed this alot more than 'London falling'.. here there is better characterisation and a good story line, complete with a sense of atmosphere. The story starts off by mentioning the original Union Jack from the WWI era and the writers seem to think British society has not changed since then! but nevermind such quibbles, it was an enjoyable read.

5.0 out of 5 stars The OTHER vampire hunter!, 24 Sep 2002
By Brian Reaves - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Union Jack TPB (Paperback)
I don't know exactly when it happened in the comic books, but at some point Union Jack became a vampire hunter like another better-known Marvel hero. Whenever it happened, however, it was a great move! This reprints the Union Jack limited series of a few years ago and it's still as relevant as it was then. Why Marvel hasn't brought UJ back for another go around is beyond me, but this story is a great one, and the artwork is good too!

4.0 out of 5 stars Jolly Good...But Bloody Odd Pacing, 3 Nov 2007
By S. Masood - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Union Jack TPB (Paperback)
If you don't know jack about Union Jack (sort of like me), this is a pretty good introduction. It introduces the new Union Jack, what I assume is going to be his nemesis and gives you some back story.

What I didn't like about it was that the pacing was off, in my opinion. A lot of new comics will build up and spend some time on the character's history, emotions and motivations. It has been an important part of their evolution. In this TPB, you get all of that in about three pages. That is what comics used to be like...and it takes away from what could have been a really great story.

Still...it was a fun enough read and if you fill in the gaps with your imagination, you should enjoy it well enough. If would have given it 3.5 stars if I could figure out how to do that....
