When beginning the AS/A level 19th Century History course i was elated to discover that finally i would be studying the fascinating subject of the italian unification. Inevitably with alevel courses a variety of books are used, but as a corner stone we have been using Graham Darby's creation with much success. At certain times Darby can lack a little detail, but on the whole the book is well written and is designed in such a way that it is both informative and entertaining. I would highly recommend this book to all 19th century history students and is a key tool to use in those difficult essays!
