This is a great little scanner fits in a pocket easily, sounds good too, no rattling speaker as with many budget radios, solid build, and thats how it feels too 'SOLID' I've dropped mine a couple of times and it bounces well :-) If you are buying this scanner to listen to Civil Airband only I would recommend you buy a decent dedicated Airband Antenna because the one on it is absolutely useless. I often struggle to hear the transmissions from Tower/Ground at Manchester Airport even when I'm in sight of the Tower, also It stuggles to recieve when I'm at home (2 miles from Manchester Airport) but when I have the scanner plugged into the Airband Antenna on my van it's brilliant.

This unit is fantastic, all you do is program the frequencies in, select the channel banks you want to scan, and let it scan, can select the frequencies you wish to listen on and away you go, fast easy set up and excellent value for money,

The 72XLT is a class scanner. Out of the box & charged the "Close Call" works really well. - I live 10 miles from the airport & the Close Call even worked on an aircraft flying overhead. The rechargeable batteries last all day. I would advise an aerial upgrade, as the stock "rubber duck" under utilizes the full potential. Some operations do require patience/determination to master- ie typing in/storing frequencies, but once you have done this a few times you remember how to do it. However I would highly recommended this scanner & it is good value for money.

The Uniden UBC-72XLT Handheld Radio Scanner with Close Call from RadioWorld is a brilliant little scanner. My scanner arrived well before the given date, well packed and in mint condition. The scanner is ideal for the pocket both price wise and carrying. Sound quality is great. Overall a robust and cool scanner that does its job really well.
I contacted RadioWorld for advice on a bigger antenna and they very kindly replied with a link to The W-881. £19.00 and more than worth it. A real quality antenna.

The Uniden UBC-72XLT has been my best buy to date from an Amazon Seller :-)

The scanner seems solidly built and good quality. The manual could be a little better written I think but it wasn't too difficult to figure out given an hour or so of fiddling. I'd say it's probably worth going somewhere close to a known source of transmissions the first time you use it so you know what you should be able to pick up. I've found the range to be a bit less than I'd have liked with the standard antenna. I live about 30 miles from Stansted and 10 miles from the nearest airfield. I can't pick up transmissions from either but I can pick up the transmissions from planes talking to them. I'm looking into what antenna would best suit my uses as I'm primarily looking for improved airband reception. The scan function works really well. I programmed a few interesting local frequencies in (the local airfields and Stansted approach), set it on scan and it cycles through all the frequencies stopping whenever there's a transmission on any frequency.

This is the third scanner I've bought and it's a great radio, it comes with rechargeable batteries and mains adapter and so far I've been getting over 10 hours of use from one charge, the rubber duck antenna that comes with it is ok for strong signal areas but would recommend using a base antenna or car mounted antenna for weak signal areas, this goes with most scanners. If you're looking for a scanner that covers most frequencies and can't afford the more expensive ones, this is ideal. Nevada were very quick in sending the radio out to me, I ordered it on the Tuesday and it was delivered on the Friday by Parcel Force, great service.
