I bought this package to provide power for a digital camera.
The supplied batteries are of a very good specification, perfectly adequate for the task in hand, but it is the charger which lets the package down.
According to the instructions, it takes 18 hours to recharge these batteries, there is no indicator to tell you when charging has finished, and you are instructed to turn off the charger as soon as the 18 hours have been completed, to avoid overcharging, and thus damaging, the batteries.
Other, more expensive, chargers are much quicker at charging (some doing the same job in under 2 hours), indicate when the batteries are fully charged, and switch themselves off automatically.
I like to recharge my batteries overnight when I'm on holiday so that I have a fully charged set for the following day's shooting. With this package, you can't do this due to the lengthy charging cycle, and you'd have to make sure that whenever you set the charger charging, you'd be there 18 hours later to switch it off again!
Given the low price of this package, perhaps I'm being unfair in my assessment, but I didn't realise that chargers could be this slow (shame on Amazon for not including a proper description) and I wish that I'd paid a bit more and got a more sophisticated charger.

This charger may appear 'cheap and cheerful' at first but it is a false economy and you will live to regret it (or, more likely, blame the batteries).

Years ago all chargers were manual like the one that comes in this package. The problem is the charger is 'dumb' and does not stop delivering current to the battery when it is full. This in turn damages the battery (some chemical reaction with which I am not familiar) and the batteries will last for less time. Repeat this a several times and you are destroying some fine high-capacity batteries -- leading to what used to be called the 'memory effect' where the batteries appear to have reduced capacity.

You'll be far better off by buying a charger that automatically shuts off when the batteries are cooked. It will cost less in replacement batteries, cause less waste and use less electricity. You can pick these up for around a tenner. Remember, it's not cheap because it's slower than other chargers, it's cheap because the charger is cheap to produce.

This product is excellent if you require high spec batteries at a budget cost, okay it takes 18 hours to charge them but you get what you pay for. If you need them quickly spend £20 on a quick charger, if you don't this is a bargain.

With the charging capacity of rechargeable batteries edging ever upwards, devices like this are getting left behind. Uniross inform me that 900mAh AAA or 2700mAh AA batteries will take 25 hours to charge in this X-press charger which is a heck of a long time. And a 1000mah AAA will take 27 hours! Also don't forget (say Uniross), once charged, batteries will start to naturally discharge, even if left in storage. So if your digital camera doesn't have enough juice, it could be a long wait to charge your batteries, which may not have had a full charge anyway!

I bought these for my wii-motes but lost the instructions so did not know how long to charge. My previous ones were about 6 hours, so thats how long i left it. Put them in the wii-mote,,, only 3 blocks!!!. Put them in for longer then, and as said on here, 8 hours???
Not very X-Press to me, but at least they do their job. The batteries included are brilliant too.

Another thing is it doesn't switch off auto, or the lights go green etc, and you can't charge odd numbers of batteries (1 or 3)

I bought this charger as I was sick of buying batteries for my digital camera. They cost a bomb! For the price, it can't be beat.

Mine came with 2500mAh batteries, and so what they take 23 hours to charge but they last for ages! If you are looking for a cheap and reliable charger but don't mind waiting for the batteries to be charged, then this is for you!

If you want a quick charger, splash out and get one! Otherwise, this is excellent!

Good value - but honest this takes ages to recharge. (24hrs). As long as u go some extras it would be ok.

I bought this charger months ago, and was always wondering why They took ages and ages to charge, and the Led light remained on. Also two of the points became powdery, and on close inspection, there was battery leakage, so I had to throw out good batteries. I agree with the last reviewer, and thank you Paul for pointing that out. I use a Digital camera and this type of charger is definitely not to be considered, if you can not stand to wait...and wait...
