Book Description

25 July 2014
Ian Adams is one of the most striking, original and fresh voices in contemporary Christian spirituality. Poetry features large in his work and is an integral part of the two bestselling books he has written. Poetry reading features in his work as a speaker, retreat leader and spiritual director to individuals and to an online community. He is frequently asked where his poems can be obtained. His poems are short, arresting, richly textured and deceptively simple. The thread that runs through these poems is Ian Adams' instinct that if our world is to rediscover its harmony and peace, that rediscovery can and must begin within each one of us. Through attention and love we may begin to discover an unfurling from all the fears and anxieties that keep us bound.

This is a beautiful book. The fundamental thread is about our awareness of the world, the people around us and ourselves. Many of the poems have a spiritual connection (but are very accessible whatever your background) - about rediscovery, about seeing (and looking), about simple living, about hope, about understanding and awareness, about memory, about places and objects and, crucially, about love. The book is packed with beautiful nuggets that stop you in your tracks… and make you smile or just think afresh. It’s a simple and yet profound book by a writer of great wisdom and creativity. I loved it and know it will be one of those books that I revisit on a regular basis.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hauntingly beautiful. 25 Aug 2014
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
This is a hauntingly beautiful book of poetry, beautifully simple but with a profound depth that makes you hold the moment and seek deeper into yourself, and out into the world around you.It is an invitation to unfurl, to let go and become more open. The poems open us up to wonder, to love, to joy, but also to the tougher things our failings, our loneliness, our sufferings and show us that somehow all are held.
This is a book that I shall return to often and know that some of the phrases will seep into and become part of me.
