This is a wonderful set of songs which show off Natalie's singing talents brilliantly. The songs are quite traditionally done with a big band orchestra, but natalie's sweet voice always shines through.
The highlights of the album are the beautiful ballads, the melencholy 'Lush Life' and the superb medley of 'for sentimental reasons, tenderly, Autumn Leaves'. The upbeat tracks that shine through are 'Orange Coloured Sky' and the brilliantly arranged 'Almost Like Being in Love'
This album I feel will apeal to most tastes, especially those who love the songs of Nat King Cole. It is an album full of highlights, the only song I don't really like is the 'duet' of Unforgettable. I feel she would have been much better off singing this one on her own.
Natalie Cole is a superb talent in her own right and deserves to be thought of as such. Unfortunately though, I don't think she will ever be able to shake off the label of 'Nat King Cole's daughter'. A shame, for she is a wonderful singer with a beautiful, rich, powerful voice.
I couldn't think of a better tribute to Nat as this album, it is a sheer joy to listen to.

First heard many of the tracks on this CD while on a fantastic holiday in Sorrento, Italy where it was used as a forerunner to an open air concert at the Marina Picollo.
As one can guess by the title this is Natalie doing the songs that are now mostly standards from in my view one of the best singers we will ever see and hear "the great Nat King Cole". She even sings with her father as a duet, done electronically of course, but sounds great I am sure most will agree.
Anyone who likes Nat King Cole will I am sure love this CD even if you did not have the same pleasure as me hearing it through a professional sound system, while enjoying a lovely cold beer in the wonderful sunsetting of the Amalfi coastline. CD was delivered swiftly and has been enjoyed ever since.... Well done Amazon keep it up.
Unforgettable

Any serious fan of Natalie Cole from her late 1970s prime soul siren and hit maker days would have not been surprised when this CD emerged in the early-1990s. Not only was it always likely that Natalie would someday record a tribute to her legendary father, but many of those early albums included moments when Natalie allowed glimpses of a serious jazz/big band diva lurking just beneath the surface - take her great rendition of "Good Morning Heartache" and the big-band influenced disco of "Mr. Melody" from her second album, "Natalie", the joyful "Lovers" from the "Thankful" album, and "Stairway To The Stars" from the otherwise patchy "Don't Look Back". Having finally kicked her serious drug addiction and faced her inner demons from being the offspring singer of a legend, the time was finally right to embrace her true destiny as a wonderful, jazzy diva and successor to Ella and Sarah. Having the wisdom to pick the same musicians, studio and arrangements used by her father, the result was this stunning set. Simply packed with one legendary song after another, all with top notch musicianship and performances, it is simply the CD Natalie was destined to make. High points include the swinging rendition of "Paper Moon", the jazzy "Route 66", the tender "Mona Lisa" and the joyous "Orange Coloured Sky" - but to be honest, there is nothing weak. The result - a 7 million selling album and 7 grammy awards, and a whole new career for Natalie. Amazingly, the record label that had masterminded her commercial comebacks with "Everlasting" and "Good To Be Back", EMI-Manhattan, were not keen on the idea and were happy to pass Natalie to Elektra for the project. They must have felt very silly after this one! Wonderful CD - and with "Take A Look", "Stardust" and "Ask A Woman Who Knows", the very cream of latter day Natalie!

This may be a tribute to Nat King but the CD proves Natalie as being the equal of her father and deserving of the Cole reputation for smooth and sympathetic attention to tune and lyrics. Go buy it.

I love this cd and get great pleasure from listening to it particularly the final duet made by mixing her voice with Nat King Cole. For any one needing easy listening laid in bed I would heartily recommend it.
