Jinx McLellan is a vivacious young business woman with her own graphics company working on a new computer game. Her vicious murder brings her colleagues and friends under suspicion, and one is expecting the rest of the novel to follow the police in tracking down the killer. But then it becomes clear that a mistake has been made, and the novel instead follows the main events in the life of Jinx and her colleagues leading up to the murder, and for a time after. I found the book quite compelling, especially the first half, and read it through avidly. It wasnt hard to see the twist coming though, and the murderer was pretty easy to spot too. That was a little disappointing, but I thought the story was well enough written that this didnt detract from it too much.

Probably the worst written book I have ever read. There is nothing even remotely resembling a thriller in this tedious narrative of non-events. The descriptions are unimaginative to the point of pure platitude, the plot is pathetic and laboured, the characters are absurd, shallow and entirely without credibility and the protagonist quite preposterously perfect (or so the author insists on telling us every time she appears) As for the ending ..... quite frankly I couldn't be bothered to finish it. Please, don't even start it.

Disappointing 23 Nov 2008
Format:Paperback
After an opening chapter that promised an exciting read, I thought 'Unfinished Business' fell very flat. Rather than showing the characters doing and thinking interesting things, the author proceeded to present a series of character biographies such as you're taught to block out in writing classes as a reference.

From then on, the writing was, unfortunately, so poor that the world of the novel just didn't become 'real' for me - I was always conscious that these were one-dimensional characters being pushed around by the author. It was almost as if the first chapter and the remainder of the book had been written by two different people.

One star for that first chapter!
