Product Description

A short story about the grisly work of a hired killer whose work finally catches up with him.

Boyd was paid to kill the man and bury his body in a Welsh forest. He’d done it many times before, the job was no different to all the others.

Except this time the body won’t stay buried. Relentlessly pursued by the ghost of his most recent job, Boyd is forced to question his line of work, until the pressure finally builds to breaking point.

Praise for Unfamiliar Country

"Crisp writing and real insight into characterisation, it's all here. The author is a novelist in waiting, that wait will be well worth it." Jake Barton, bestselling author of Burn, Baby, Burn and Blood.

"If this is a taste of the author's style, then I will look out for any future work he produces. " Declan Conner, author of Survival Instinct (The dark side of dating).

"Concise and atmospheric - a real sense of stomach-churning unease..." (Books Monthly)

5.0 out of 5 stars An Excellent Thriller 16 Mar 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I have always been attracted to the short-story thriller. And I was happy I bought this for my Kindle. The story tells the tale of a Contract Killer that has always found his job straight forward, yet the last job has started to present problems. The problem being that the victim refuses to go away. As an Hired Killer, Boyd's position within the tale changes to one of a man who senses the end is coming. The nemesis comes in the form of a decomposing ghost that gives him a final ultimatum that leads to an horrific finality on an isolated farm.

Tersely written, this is an excellent short-thriller debut from T.S Sharp.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great read 4 Oct 2011

This is a very good short story that held my interest to the end. The author did a good job of building tension through to the dramatic climax. Recommended for a fairly quick read on the morning commute.

I read a novel by this author recently, not yet available on Kindle, so I was keen to read his short story. The striking cover picture suggests the nature of the tale and we're soon engrossed in the confusing and distinctly upsetting world of Boyd, a hired killer with problems. There's a chatty ghost to contend with as Boyd's developing paranoia threatens to overwhelm him. I'll not give away the plot, but there's a real morality tale here, albeit well hidden at times. Crisp writing and real insight into characterisation, it's all here. The author is a novelist in waiting, that wait will be well worth it.

4.0 out of 5 stars An entertaining 10 minutes... 7 Sep 2012

A nice, dark little story about conscience and living with consequences of your actions.

Boyle the hit-man takes some r'and'r in the Welsh countryside after his latest job - but this one just won't lie down.

My only (constructive!) criticism would be that I found it a little heavy in the description. Still a very entertaining tale though.
