Gary Keller is enjoying a cruise with new friends when he meets Scott Haworth, and unexpected attraction flares between them. But Scott has a past he's trying to leave behind; nine months earlier he was released from prison after almost a decade. The Innocence Project and DNA evidence exonerated of the crime, but the victim's brother still holds him responsible.

Gary finds himself drawn to Scott for many reasons, not least of which is that the big, physically strong exterior hides a vulnerable, unsure man trying to restart his life. But it's only a seven-day cruise, and when it ends, they both have to go back to their lives in different parts of the country. Is a week long enough to build a relationship that will stand the strain of separation? Or will the cruise just fade to a happy vacation memory

Unexpected Vintage
Gary Keller is invited on a cruise by new friends he met at his client Tyler's house party. When he meets Scott Haworth on the cruise ship, there is an immediate attraction between them. However, Scott has a traumatic past he is struggling to overcome. Nine months earlier, he was released from prison after The Innocence Project and DNA evidence exonerated him of the crime. Nevertheless the victim's brother still believes Scott is guilty.

Unexpected Vintage is a spin-off of Bottled Up and Uncorked. The well written storyline highlights The Innocence Project and the turmoil involved in regaining life outside the prison system. The characters are believable. Gary works for a wholesale fabric company and Tyler is his client. The house party introduces Gary to Tyler and Mark's friends. Gary is a conscientious agreeable man who desires a long term relationship with the right man. Meeting Scott proves to be the man Gary can love. Because of a stalker on a mission to destroy his new life, Scott is afraid of social rejection. Also having lost his civil rights once, Scott fears contact with authority figures. Scott feels unworthy of his new friends and Gary. Scott suffers nightmares from being imprisoned.
I found the stalker's mentality intriguing, along with how his way of thinking justified his actions. Another dilemma Gary and Scott have is how to continue a relationship when they live in different states. Andrew Grey has created a superb saga full of emotional chaos, in addition to sensual intimate scenes. The theme conveys awareness to some of the flaws in the justice system, along with the impact a wrongful imprisonment can have on an innocent person. I enjoyed this impressive story immensely.

Sunshine and hope 11 April 2010
By Gabriele Baron - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
I really, really loved this book. The combination of exotic Caribbean locations in eternal sunshine, characters I fell in love with, and deep emotions as they get to know each other and their pasts provides a thrilling ride which kept me glued to the pages. When the cruise ends and they have to go back to their own lives I was so upset. Why couldn't they see they were meant for each other? Why wouldn't they fight and figure out a way to be together? Luckily they end up doing exactly that, even if it takes them a little longer than I would have hoped (kept me reading, though).

This is a great story about the power of love and contains a message of hope for everyone who has doubts about deserving a new beginnng.

I loved reading this book. It really reminded me of the importance of great friendships. I also learned about the innocence project, and all the baggage those set free must have to deal with.

Unexpected Vintage 11 July 2010
By M. Nix - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
Shy fabric salesman Gary is pleased to be invited to a party by one of his clients. He's even more pleased when, once there, he ends up being invited to take a cruise spot that had been vacated by another friend of theirs, who'd already paid part of the trip. Gary's not sure about going at first, but decides to take a chance. He soon finds himself with a new set of good friends. The cruise is great, too, especially after he meets the sexy Scott.

There's only one problem--Scott's an ex-con, who was released after eight years in prison for a crime he didn't commit. He hasn't quite left his past behind yet, and besides, he lives far away. Can Gary and Scott form any sort of real relationship, or is what they have destined to be just a vacation fling?

An Unexpected Vintage is an enjoyable story of second chances. I liked shy, awkward Gary. He's a sweet, kind man who doesn't have much confidence, but as the story progresses he begins to find the courage to take chances. Since the story's all in his point of view, I didn't get as much insight into Scott (which I would have liked), but he's also uncertain and afraid after his time behind bars. The conflicts are both internal--Scott's lingering issues, Gary's own lack of confidence at times--and external, having to do with Scott's past. One thing I particularly enjoyed about An Unexpected Vintage was the chance to get a peek into the lives of several characters from some of Andrew Gray's other books. They provided additional conflict and interest. While a few aspects of An Unexpected Vintage might have been a bit dramatic, I liked the story and rooted for Gary and Scott the whole time. Fans of Andrew Grey's work will definitely not want to miss An Unexpected Vintage.

Fun Read 1 Nov. 2010

Love it. Yes, it's a M4M romance, and a page-turner. My partner and I actually went on a 3-week cruise in September and took this and another (similar) book to read. Loved the story line. The characters were easy to identify with and the ending was magical.

Will look forward to reading more from this author!!
