3.0 out of 5 stars I have to disagree - possible spoilers ahead. 17 Oct 2003
Format:Mass Market Paperback
While it is true that the storyline is dated and Torr's alpha male character highlights that (the book was published in 1984) it wasn't a bad book. The previous character assessment of Abby is incorrect though - she never considered and affair with her cousin's husband, didn't encourage him and apart from letting Torr direct her life a little more than she should, she wasn't a bad character.
I don't mean to get overly irate about this, but I have to admit, that when I read the initial review I was put off a bit, by the character assessment of Abby, but decided to give the book a go anyway. I'm glad I did.
It's not one of JAK's best, but seeing as authors generally (one hopes) improve the more they write, for a book that's nearly 20 years old it wasn't bad at all. If you can get it as a marketplace book, I'd recommend it as a nice afernoon read.

4.0 out of 5 stars nothing special, a reprint repackaged 3 Mar 2003
By Deborah MacGillivray HALL OF FAME VINE™ VOICE
Format:Mass Market Paperback
This is a decent read, nothing special. A REPRINT - do not buy thinking it is a new JAK.

Abby London is hiding a secret, a past with a stalker/jealous boyfriend. She almost had an affair with her cousin's husband when her cousin was pregnant. Now someone is trying to blackmail her because of it.

Torr Latimer, is a man she meets in a flower arranging class. After 1 date is declaring he owns her etc....so dated. These are not bad reads. And I often like to catch the ones I missed, but I really resent very dated books being fostered off on us with high prices.

The characters were not engaging. I disliked she was tempted to consider an affair with her cousin's husband while cousin was having rough pregnancy. This just did not endear her to me.
While I adore Alpha Males, Torr Latimer comes off as too cave mannish. This book may have played nearly 20 years ago when it was written, but it comes off as dated, and leaves you with characters that are less than charming.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not One of Her Best 12 Nov 2002
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
Reprint, so check for it in your library--you won't want to spend for this one. Very tired plot involving male domination as the way to a woman's heart. It definitely shows it's '80's roots. Plot is somewhat contrived and it's obvious who the bad guy is early on. Very disappointing

2.0 out of 5 stars Bleh 28 Nov 2002
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
I'm usually a big JAK fan, but this one was nothing to write home about. I couldn't help wondering why the heroine would want to end up with such an overbearing jerk. :) When the hero isn't someone you'd want to get to know, the book isn't enjoyable.
