5.0 out of 5 stars Lyrical, passionate & classy, 10 Jun 2004
By C. Chambers (Shenfield, UK) - See all my reviews
(TOP 1000 REVIEWER)    (REAL NAME)
Having only recently been introduced to the music of Mercy Me with their CD "Almost There", which is generally agreed to be superb, I was not sure that "Undone" would keep up the good work. I am delighted to find I was wrong in that apprehension! This continues their beautifully produced rock style with some lovely classics in there. The songs are all still very melodic and strong but there are a few more gentle ones here than on "Almost There." In some songs there is a similar theme in the lyrics running through as they had obviously had a tough year with bereavement and loss. But the songs such as "Homesick", "Never Alone" and "Keep Singing" are wonderful songs of hope and trust and confidence in God through the darker days.

Mercy Me's songs are so passionate, the lyrics so deep and full of surrender and abandon to the awesomeness of God they have an incredible capacity to move you very deeply. When you've finished tapping your foot, they send you to your knees with a smile on your face, "unaware of my fears, unaware of my shame, nothing else matters here but glorifying Your name." "Undone" is great music, real and uplifting lyrics and a really good foot-tapping listen. Enjoy it!

4.0 out of 5 stars Missing Something, 13 Oct 2004
By Mark Baker (Santa Clarita, CA United States) - See all my reviews
(TOP 50 REVIEWER)    (REAL NAME)
I finally broke down and got my first Mercy Me CD at the beginning of the year. I immediately fell in love with their lyrics and style and quickly got their second release. By the time this CD came out, I was waiting anxiously to see where they went next.

Unfortunately, I wasn't as happy with this CD as with their first two. The lyrics seem to lack the passion and insight of their previous releases. And it might partially be that I've listened to too much Mercy Me to close together, but their style seems the same, and many of the songs just run together.

However, there are a few that do stand out. "Homesick" expertly summarizes the mourning that a Christian does. It deserves that success it had this year at the radio. "A Million Miles Away" caught my attention right away. I always need reminders that God is near, and this is a cleaver one. "Undone" is a poetic reminder of what God has given us in Christ. And "Keep Singing" is a very tender song of comfort and pressing on in the face of tragedy.

There are some songs that are well worth it on this CD, and fans will love it. For those interested in Mercy Me but unfamiliar with their music, I recommend you start with one of their other CD's.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, absoutely excellent., 13 Nov 2005
I bought their first album in South Africa and loved it. I didn't hear much about them over here in England but when I saw this on amazon I had to buy it.

Their work has progressed and this albulm is just as good as the first. Some brilliant songs but none that top "I can only imagine" (in my opinion).

Definately worth a listen.
