Product Description

Lord Eldridge returns to London to reclaim the estate that had been stolen from him. He is determined on the ruination of the family that destroyed his, but his plans conflict with his gentlemanly duties to the remnants of the Hessworth family--Amelia Hessworth and her ailing aunt.

Amelia Hessworth's willful pride and determination only increases the stakes as she refuses to accept a fate less than the one she wants. She won't let circumstance or the arrogant man who's come to throw her out of her home stop her, even as she has little choice in the short term but to rely on support from the man who despises her. In fact, she learns to embrace the freedom outside of Society's strict expectations.

To say they don't get on is an understatement, but circumstances can be cruel.

3.0 out of 5 stars I Enjoyed This Book But... 13 Nov 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I did enjoy this book, but it was a bit spoilt for me by the spelling mistakes and unintentionally amusing errors-" She couldn't bare it" instead of "bear it", and in the year 1835 I doubt if the hero would think that footsteps walking above were "doing his head in!". Some passages had to be skipped altogether as they did not make sense, and "surprise" was spelt all the way through as "surprize". Apart from that this was not a bad book, and if it was edited it would make all the difference.

3.0 out of 5 stars A pleasant story ruined . . . 15 Nov 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
If you can get past the words missed out, the words not needed, the dreadful grammar and spelling errors, this book was really rather enjoyable and I'm glad I persevered with it until the end, which I felt finished rather abruptly. Like the previous reviewer said, there were some very odd words/spellings used for the year in which the book was meant to be set in, such as 'pants' and 'prat'! A good 'overhaul' of this book to correct the obvious mistakes would enhance it greatly, and though I would love to have given the book 4 stars, in its present state it really is only deserving of 3 stars.

4.0 out of 5 stars A touching Romp 17 Nov 2012
By Ollie
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I will give this book four stars, for although I agree about the poor editing and the very basic spelling mistakes, this may not be the author's fault. What I liked about the story was that it touched my emotions, I felt sorry for both lead characters and wanted them to find 'happy ever after'. The story was well written with a feisty heroine and a hero who was forever rescuing her from scrapes. I like Ms Oster's style and would like to read more from her.
