WOW, is about all I can say, as I wasn't expeccting such an incredible mix by Emerson. The theme here is a dark progressive style that I love, and a pretty far turn from his true, or lighter house sounds of the past. He really gets down and dirty here, and the first track, Hard4slow, a scorching hot vocal track by Emerson, sets up what is easily one of the top 10 progressive mixes of the year (and there are lots of good ones this year). This is one of my top tracks of the year!
He delves slightly into some lighter house, but the dark and stunning electro beats are never far behind and there really isn't one bad track on this entire disc. All 4 of Emerson's own tracks on here are superb, and a clear indication that his soon to be released artist album is going to be hot!
The bad news is, Sharam Jey's disc is a real tripped out house funk that I just can't grasp. It is a big contrast to Emerson's hot progressive sounds. There are a few decent tracks, like the stunning opener by M.A.N.D.Y vs. Booka Shade, and Body Electronic by Gregg feat. Lotus & Carbon, but overall, a way too funky house mix with some very eclectic sounds and melodies that just don't move me.
It's still worth the bucks to here Emerson's great electro and dark progressive blend. Don't miss it! I can't wait for the artist album!

It has been a while but I was fortunate enough to have had the opportunity to party in San Francisco at some of the cities hotspots including the 1015 club and the famous Endup. For those readers who are not familiar with these places the 1015 runs till around 4am but the Endup keeps going until the following day with a 2 hour gap from 4am until 6am when the bar is closed on account of licensing laws. Anyway, enter Sharam Jey with a mix, that in my opinion is an accurate reflection of what it is like to club in San Francisco. Tracks 1 - 5 are reminiscent of the funky house tunes played in the early hours of the morning at The Endup and without doubt capture the true San Franciscan house vibe. The mix then shifts into the harder electro beats played at many of the cities bars and clubs such as the 1015. Electro and younger fans will enjoy this mix more so than house lovers but whilst the CD may be a little mixed up in the order that the tracks are played, it does paint a pretty good picture. Enter Darren Emerson up to his usual mischief... It's a tough job but I suppose someone has to do it...

With this album underwater definately come`s of age, i have felt that they have always been in the shadow of the subliminal label. But with a couple of dissapointing releases from subliminal Darren has come up trumps with episode 4.
Disc one kicks of with hard4slow and then gets tougher & tougher, for me track 5 bright lights is when this disc really kicks in with some tough acid beats.
Disc 2 (mixed by sharam jay) is one of the more innovative mixes out there and is hard to describe, you just have to hear it for yourselves.
In all an impressive installment in the underwater series, now bring on episode 5.

Emerson serves up a dark and dirty progressive mix. 17 Oct. 2005
By Doctor Trance - Published on Amazon.com

WOW, is about all I can say, as I wasn't expeccting such an incredible mix by Emerson, and was even hesitant to buy this, especially considering the steep price compared to other 2 disc mixes. The theme here is a dark progressive style that I love, and nothing like his usual club and true house sounds. He really gets down and dirty here, and the first track, Hard4slow, a scorching hot vocal track by Emerson, sets up what is easily one of the top 10 progressive mixes of the year (and there are lots of good ones this year). This is one of my top tracks of the year!

I think it's still worth the bucks to here Emerson's great electro and dark progressive blend. Don't miss it! I can't wait for the artist album!

Two last notes: I don't know why Amazon has the artist incorrectly listed here as F5. I have contacted them about it and hopefully they correct it soon, because fans really need to find this album. And track 12 on disc 1 had a slight skip. I am going to try exchanging it and hopefully it was just this disc, if not, it's on the master.

the Darren Emerson CD is good 22 Feb. 2006
By Big T - Published on Amazon.com

This is definitely worth getting, if just for the Darren Emerson CD1 - it rocks! Good stuff here. The Sahram Jey CD2 was pretty wacky - some disco - some tech - a lot of bad songs. I didn't like any of them. This is still worth getting as there are many great tracks you won't find elsewhere (maybe a Gabriel & Dresden live set (I heard 2 sweet ones on a webcast before), but you can't exactly buy that now can you?!).

CD 1 = 5 stars

CD 2 = 1 star

Darren Emerson shows a real good quality of House Music alwasy with the Funky Influence, and Sharam Jey was good in the CD 2, Underwater is already a legend in the EDM CDs
