5.0 out of 5 stars Every media student should have a copy!, 11 Dec 2004
I am currently a third year Media and Cultural Studies student at University, and Understanding Media Theory was a set text for one of my second year modules. Of all the text books I have bought for my course (and I have bought plenty!) I can honestly say this is the most useful. In fact I was able to use it for every essay during my second year, and it is continuing to be useful during my third.

Written in a friendly and approachable way, this book is an excellent place to start when writing an essay on just about any topic that could come up during a Media/Culture degree. Rather than making topics heavy and wordy, Williams makes each one easy to understand without oversimplifying the complexities of the subject area. The result is a book that's both fascinating to read and a must-have text for any media student.

Highly recommended.
