Product Description

Review

This is a really useful book for beginning teachers. It grounds subject knowledge in mathematics pedagogy and focuses on how teachers can support pupils attainment in mathematics through understanding maths rather than memorising tricks and procedures.

Sal Jarvis, Associate Dean: International, Enterprise and Communities, School of Education, University of Hertfordshire, UK.

The book is a user-friendly text that tackles many aspects of teaching and learning primary mathematics including a good focus on the pedagogy.

Jacqueline Launders, Senior Lecturer, Department of Teacher Education, Sheffield Hallam University, UK

4.0 out of 5 stars Useful 20 Dec 2013
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
As a trainee primary teacher maths is always a subject that concerns me a little - will I know it well enough and be able to teach it clearly? This book somehow always raises my confidence in the subject areas and makes them feel much less daunting and builds my confidence in my ability to teach a class,

I have deducted a star because it doesn't take the time to explains the methods in full which would be useful.
