Understanding the Spiritual Exercises 14 Jan 2011
By Sergio - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
P. Michael's book is exceptional. Besides of being a manual for retreat directors, for which you have to be trained
by the Society of Jesus, it has a particular quality:
To me, it is the best translation of the Autograph, because his commentaries include that inimitable, powerful,
and loving way, in which St. Ignatius writes in his own language and reaches your heart when you least expect it.
What is "lost in translation".

P. Michael's book is imported from England and maybe it is not good business for Amazon, since they
seem only to stock items that sell right away. They offered it before, but it would take at least a month
to get to the US. Other sellers offer it, but not Amazon. Then there is room for speculation. For example, now it
is selling new for about $80. Someone has to tell these sellers that if you are a retreat director you can get the book,
provided you have received the appropriate training at the Jesuit retreat houses for $35!

A Very Useful Translation as well as Supplement and Study Source for the Exercises 6 Nov 2010
By Kenny - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
I have done the thirty day retreat. I purchased this book at the recommendation of a retreat master of the Jesuit order who has over 50 years of distinguished service to his credit.

This book is widely acknowledged as rich source for exploring the full dimensions of the Excercises.

To be honest, there is nothing like doing the exercises. Bring this book along with you to the exercises. Then let the rest be God's work.
