Product Description

Review

"Peter Ellis has put together an excellent introduction to research that covers all the basic principles for nursing students. Designed to meet the requirements of NMC standards that encourage active and reflective learning, all healthcare students will find this book invaluable." - Review, Nursing Standard

Product Description

From the start of their training it's crucial for nursing students to be able to understand and evaluate current research to support their learning and reading for assignments. However, many books focus on how to do research, rather than how to understand and evaluate research. This book helps students recognise what good research is by providing an entry-level guide to the main research methodologies used in nursing. It puts research into context for student nurses, explaining how they need to use the skills of critiquing and evaluating research throughout their course and how this is linked to evidence-based practice.

I bought this book last year to help gain a good understanding of research terminology (whilst undertaking a research module in my 2nd year of training).
In order to pass the examination on this module it was key that I understood the basic terminology in a research paper, this book helped improve and support my learning needs. Due to the number of students in my cohort it was easier to buy a book on the module, rather than hope that one would be returned to our limited library collection. It will also be useful to refer back to this book (to refresh myself) before the research module in the 3rd year begins.

overall a good book to purchase, that should have good usage for adult nursing students.

Probably one of the best books i've bought!! My personal tutor recommended this and i am so glad she did. An absolute godsend when critiquing. Made a very difficult assignment much easier. It is written clearly and explains the different methods in a way that i could actually understand!! The price is great too. 100% recommend.

Research was a daunting subject for me, the terminology really baffled me but this book really helped me to understand the key parts of evidence based research.
