Product Description

If you love your rabbits, and want to understand them better, then buy this book.
--Rabbit Welfare Association

From the Back Cover

Have you ever wondered what your rabbit is thinking? Or why he rubs his chin on the furniture and thumps his hind feet? Why does your rabbit make sudden running jumps? And what is going on when he flops dramatically on his side? How do you stop him digging your carpet? Why does he turn nasty when you try to introduce a new friend? How do you tell if your rabbit is bored?

These questions and many more can be answered by understanding the motivations behind your rabbit's habits. Tamsin Stone draws on many years of experience working with rabbits to enlighten us about their fascinating and often puzzling behaviour. Stone breaks down common rabbit behaviours such as digging, eating, aggression, social interaction, and play and puts them in context to explain how rabbits' evolution as prey animals has shaped their instincts. Modern domestic rabbits still share many of the same behaviours of their wild cousins, and failing to accommodate them is the reason behind many conflicts between rabbits and their owners. Stone helps rabbit owners understand their pets' habits and how they can create an environment that gives their rabbit the opportunity to express natural behaviour patterns. In turn this will help you provide a healthy and happy life for your rabbit, and enjoy a peaceful and harmonious household.

5.0 out of 5 stars Understanding your rabbit's habbits 9 Sep 2011
By jrn1310
An interesting read for the experienced rabbit owner and for those new to keeping rabbits to enable them to get to know their pet rabbit better and allow them to enrich the lives of any rabbits in their care. The author explains using well illustrated text the body language and behaviour of both domestic pet and wild rabbits and offers lots of advise to allow a rabbit owner to enhance the relationship that they have with them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best rabbit book available 9 Nov 2011
I honestly believe that this is the best book for rabbit owners on the market. Uniquely it focuses on rabbit body language and packed full of illustrations it is very clear and easy to follow. It is ideal for teenagers but detailed enough to satisfy adults too.

The lack of information available about how to interpret body language of dogs and horses is partly responsible for many animal welfare problems and this is definitely also the case for rabbits in the UK. Most owners simply can't tell what their pet rabbits are trying to communicate to them and because they don't understand all the amazing things that rabbits do, all too often the life of a pet rabbit is to be confined to a hutch in the corner of a garden. Woefully inadequate. This book covers body language but also puts it into context of rabbit care - for example the section on fear covers how to recognise a frightened rabbit and then how to minimise the chance of making a rabbit fearful.

This book will encourage responsible ownership that enables rabbits to behave as they are meant to and is a must for anyone interested in bunnies.

5.0 out of 5 stars Understanding rabbit behaviour 15 Jun 2012
By Bella
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
This item arrived in good time and was accurately described. It's a handy book to have, if like me, you are not familiar with these creatures. The body language of a rabbit can indeed appear quite complex and this book explains it very well. The illustrations are very clear and fun to look at! This book would be particularly helpful to anyone who has more than one rabbit or who is looking to introducing another.

5.0 out of 5 stars Rabbit's Habbits book 17 May 2012
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
This book is excellent. We have had two rabbits for over a year and always wondered what their little mannerisms meant as we have never had rabbits before, nor known anyone who had them as pets to ask questions about. The pictures are great too, especially to help explain things to my young kids ... and they make it an easy way to quickly find what we are looking for.
It is a great read and its good to know when they are annoyed so we know to take steps to find out whats wrong and try to help .... and when they are relaxed and settled its lovely to see ... and its entertaining knowing they are curious about their surroundings. We feel we are able to understand the rabbits a lot better now and I only wish I had found out about this book sooner.

I was lucky enough to share my childhood with several rabbits, so naturally when I was old enough and had a suitable home I brought a rabbit, as they are such wonderful loving amazing animals. Long story short, he passed away after a illness and because of the situation I became involved with rescue rabbits. I very quickly learnt that there was much better ways of looking after rabbits, and their needs and health etc. but no book available covered what Tamsin has in hers - how to actually listen to your rabbit. Needless to say as soon as I heard about this book i pre-ordered it, and it was much better than I expected and I had high expectations.

This book has taught me so much about what my buns are saying to me that the six traumatised bunnies that I've adopted from rescue have grown in confidence, and I have a special bond with them all. By being able to listen to them, and know when they are telling me they are a little unsure, or worried or enjoying something I've been able to act accordingly and now they trust me so much, and I love knowing what they are saying. Bunnies may not make much noise, but they are very expressive animals. This book is the only one of its kind, for me it's a must have for all rabbit owners, those brand new to bunnies and those who like me, have had bunnies for years.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good small book 30 May 2013
By Mckiwi
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
The book was smaller than I expected for the price, however, the illustrations are good and the information is quite extensive especially for first time rabbit owners. It's a fantastic way to understand the basic rabbit body language and to feel like you can get to know your bunny a bit better!

4.0 out of 5 stars Kindle version review 11 Jun 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I know that Tamsin Stone is exceptionally knowlegeable about rabbits and I absolutely trust what she says so I've no complaints about the written contents. However, as with other non-fiction books that contain drawings or diagrams, I'm discovering that what works on a printed page does not translate successfully to the Kindle screen. There are pages of drawings to effectively illustrate the body language of rabbits but on the Kindle Paperwhite, the description beneath each drawing is too small to be read without a magnifying glass and some of the drawings themselves aren't too clear. I don't want to sit peering into my Kindle with a magnifying glass so for that reason I've returned the book.

I will purchase again but in paperback so that I have a copy for reference.
