Book Description

6 April 2003
This work combines classic management concepts with emerging trends and issues in a concise, student-friendly format. The theme of the fourth edition is the "new workplace", highlighting how technology and other influences have changed the traditional organizations and the investigating the impact on their members. The text uses small to mid-sized organizations as examples giving students practical insights into the type of organizations in which many will start their careers. The goal since the first edition has been to provide a practical and hands-on alternative to the traditional and comprehensive texts on the market.

4.0 out of 5 stars Surprisingly good! 10 Dec 2003
Format:Paperback
Although I had to buy this book as it was a University set text for one of my management modules, it is actually quite a good book and I probably would have bought it if I didn't have to! Its interesting and is easy to read. It also provides real life examples of the theories and practices, which makes it that little bit easier to understand and identify.
The only thing that I would say that is a negative point is the fact that all of the examples are of american companies, since the book is published in America. Although most people will be familliar with these companies, it would have helped if some were of British companies.
However, I would strongly recommend this book, its everything you would want and it will help you in quite a few areas of business.

3.0 out of 5 stars Hard to learn when you fall asleep... 12 May 2001
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
This book, although quite imformative and related to class discussions, was a little boring when I read it. Also, as it usually happens with business textbook it lacked "When good idea goes bad" examples. But, I guess, management never makes any mistakes... that's what you have to understand in it.
