This book gives a lot of information about not only hieroglyphs but also about Egypt in general. The hieroglyphs themselves are shown clearly and the explanations of their meanings are easy to understand. Most symbols are shown separately so that the reader can learn individual words and meanings which can then be used to translate the examples shown. Although this book is not aimed so much at people that are new to hieroglyphs, it is not hard to understand and is just as good a place to start as any.
