Superficial and repetitive 20 Oct 2008
    By D. Kleinman - Published on Amazon.com
    Format:Paperback
The book takes a long time to say not very much. For example, the fee structure of hedge funds is repeated 5 or 6 times (not just in passing, but as the main topic of a paragraph). There are many other examples like this. In other places, more or less the same sentence is repeated within a paragraph. This leads to many fluffy paragraphs. Remarkable also is the dearth of real-life examples -- for example,

some case histories would be nice (few hedge funds are cited by name). The book is often fuzzy or uncritical. For example, the industry buzzword "absolute return" is used as shorthand for "hedge funds aim not to lose money" which is then treated as a realized fact and cited as an advantage over mutual funds. Some numbers or a chart would have been preferable. Again, there are many examples like this. Also, diction and grammar are often weak. I found the wikipedia entry on hedge funds to be more useful and faster to read.
