Format:Paperback
This book is part of the excellent series on the environment by the Open University, UK. This is the first book of the series, but it can be read on its own.

Whereas the other books of the series examine a theme in depths, this book provides an excellent overview. Using up-to-date examples this books gives you an excellent idea about what challenges the environment currently faces.

The course is clearly interdisciplinary. This means that there is something for everyone: scientific facts are there as are the social analyses. Where the text introduces new theories or difficult concepts, the reader is helped step by step. There are many activities to check the understanding of the text or reflect on the argument.

If you are looking for an overview or preparing to read the other books of the series, this is an accessible read introducing the contemporary environment.
