So-so treatment; over-generalizations and rambling,

Greetings to all potential readers.
This book was a disappointment; it is a slightly-amended revision of his earlier superficial book on this subject. The books provides a so-so treatment of business culture and intellectually-lazy stereotypes of Gulf Arabs. The style is loaded with over-generalizations and rambling discussion. Especially jarring was the fact that the author does not differentiate between the distinctive business cultures and practices as found in Saudi Arabia and those in the adjacent other Gulf Arab states. There are some better books available than this one: the "Culture Shock!: [COUNTRY]" and "Culture Smart [COUNTRY]" series are better-written and more useful to visiting businessmen, tourists, and newly-arrived expats who will live and work in the GCC countries. I cannot recommend this particular book as a basic reference for the undergraduate and graduate-level courses I teach or about which I advise. Hope this helps. Regards, Stephen H.
