4.0 out of 5 stars Invasion By Sound 28 Aug 2012
By Armchair Pundit VINE™ VOICE
"These people have been brainwashed to wage a silent war. They're part of a pattern - a pattern of evil.
We've got to find the other pieces before they undermine the whole country."

A most unusual sci-fi show without a single flying saucer, ray gun, or E T in sight. These mysterious alien invaders use high frequency sound waves to brainwash the susceptible into undermining British society.
The heroes of these stories are Drew Heriot and his sister-in-law Anne Heriot (Jeremy Wilkin and Rosemary Nichols - Department S) who each week locate then attempt to foil their dastardly plans, with the help of Professor Val Randolf (Denis Quilley, Eps 2-5).

Created by Robert Banks Stewart (Shoestring, Bererac and the Dr Who stories Terror of the Zygons, Seeds of Doom), with many of the writers having Doctor Who connections, David Whitaker, Bill Strutton and Robert Holmes.
A greatly overlooked series which is worth a look.
For lovers of subtle science fiction.
(Word of warning don't expect the picture and sound quality to be up there with Doctor Who from the same period. If you are you will be disappointed.)

4.0 out of 5 stars poorly remastered 29 July 2012

excellent original series, very clever mixture of crime thriller and sience fiction but yet again network let themselves and there customers down by not remastering either picture or sound.hard of hearing people like myself nead clear sound quality or subtitles, come on network pull yer fingers out.whinge over very clever writing doesn't seem at all stagey or wooden like some other tv of this era,if you enjoy old sience fiction like dr who you should enjoy this albeit with the volume cranked right up.

4.0 out of 5 stars For fans of 1960's British television ... 10 Jan 2013
Amazon Verified Purchase
I had never heard of "Undermine" before I purchased it. Not surprising when it was produced in 1965, with only eleven episodes. On the downside, the series was filmed on videotape in B+W. On the upside, is great acting from the two leads here and various guest actors. The Sci-Fi angle of the story is fairly low key yet still provides the right atmosphere. The production values are very similar to the William Hartnell "Doctor Who" era or the Honor Blackman "Avengers" episodes. So this isn't for everyone's taste, but for fans of British television who already own The Avengers, The Saint, Department S,The Baron, Dangerman, etc., you might want to give this series a try.
