This is book 5 of the Bodyguard series and centres around Manny and Lily. The couple met 17 years before the main story takes place and had a short but itense affair. It ended when Manny was captured and athough he escaped, he is certain that it must have been Lily who turned him in. Lily, on the other hand was told that Manny had been killed. Both go on with their lives until one day when Lily happens to see Manny in the hospital where she works where he is trying to arrest a man. Before she can put together what must have happened and figure out why Manny has never contacted her, her 16 year old son is the victim of a kidnapping while on an exchange trip. The only person Lily can think to turn to is Manny, who is actually the boy's father, although he is unaware of this. So the story focusses on Manny and Lily's rescue mission, with the help of Ethan and Dallas Garrett, two of Manny's Special Forces brothers, and Ethans' financee Darcy. As well as trying to locate the missing boy, Manny has to come to grips with how he feels about the woman he believes betrayed him all those years before, whether he can believe her side of the story about what happened and what they are going to do when it's all over.

this is the first book i have read by this author and kept my interest really well. based mainly in sri lanka it tells the story of lovers reunited after 17 years. i do not usually read romantic suspense but would certainly try more. a lovely alpha hero, a very strong female lead and a few steamy scenes!part of a series but can be easily read alone.

Loved this series of books, good theme and some were better than others. This is book 5 and is quite good. It doesn't have the hot, hot scenes of other books but is still a very good read.
