Tapping into English folk without too much of the fiddle-de-dee, Blackmore's renditions of some great English music with enough rock influence to give it zap, and not forgetting the to-die-for vocals from Candice, this hopefully heralds the arrival of something very new in the UK music scene.
Beautiful lyrics (especially 'Now and Then')and enough haunting melody to conjure images of magical medievalism, this music is definitely food for the soul for tree huggers, 70's throwbacks, pagans and those looking for a new England.

I'd lost touch with Ritchie Blackmore's musical exploits for a few years. When I happened upon this whilst surfing the web I thought "why not" and bought it. It's brilliant! The medieval moods set by the early Rainbow are all there but stronger than ever. Candice's voice is simply beautiful. Great songs,(particularly the title track and "Now & then")and great musicians - if you've ever been into Mr Blackmore's music buy this and rediscover the magic!

Those, who like me. have basked in the brilliance of Richie Blackmore for a number of years were overawed with the brilliance and deliacy of Shadow of the Moon, were taken one step further with the second Blackmores Night album.
Under a Violet Moon carries us into a world full of subtle instrumentals, powerful guitar work and a wide variation of vocals. Richie and Candice, between them, have a unique chemistry which is rarely to be found.
Richie Blackmore has once again proved his brilliance and virtuosity in this album, showing yet another side of his apparently limitless talent.
I feel that it is impossible to single out individual tracks for mention, as all the tracks on this album differ greatly and are worth listening to.

I bought this cd on the strength of the Blackmore's Night cd Secret Voyage. The songs on this cd are very easy going and pretty but with what seems like only one flavour. It has a medieval feel and would be great for a banquet in a remote castle. All you would need to add would be serving wenches and a hog roast. It might also work in a three bedroom semi in Brighton. If you want to try Blackmore's Night for the first time I would recommend Secret Voyage.

THIS IS THE SECOND OFFERING OF BLACKMORES NIGHT,FOLLOWING SHADOW OF THE MOON. AGAIN, THERE IS THE MEDIEVAL UNDERTONE, RUNNING ALMOST TOTALLY THROUGHOUT, ALTHOUGH, AS SUSPECTED, THE GUITAR WORK IS, PERHAPS, A LITTLE MORE PROMINANT, AND A LITTLE REMINISANT OF THE OLD DUET STYLE OF THE MAESTRO GUITARIST, OF RAINBOW AND PURPLE, USING HIS FELLOW MUSICIANS AS MERELEY SUPPORT MINNOWS. HOWEVER, ON THIS OFFERING, THE OTHER MUSICIANS DO NOT PLAY SECOND FIDDLE. THE TOGETHERNESS, AND OBVIOUS TALENT, SHINES FROM EVERY CROCHET.ON TOP OF THIS THERE IS THE CREAM OF VOCAL BEAUTY, CANDICE NIGHT. TO SEE BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, YOU NEED GO NO FURTHER THAN TO SEE THESE MASTERS AT WORK.IF YOU ARE A NARROW MINDED EMPTY SOULED 70`S THROW BACK, YOU WILL HAVE BOUGHT THE FIRST ALBUM ON A WHIM. SO YOU WON`T BUY THIS ON YOUR PRINCIPLE.OPEN UP, RELAX THROUGH THE SHROUD OF MYSTERY, TURN A PAGE OF MYSTERY, JOIN THE RENAISSANCE FAIR............... TELF

A 2010 release of some of blackmores night's classics , songs i already have but always nice to hear over again so a bit of an indulgence , if you are a blackmores night fan you will probably own most of these tracks already , i can't actually tell if they have been re-worked as the musical formula although unique always sounds very familiar , Some brand new material is long overdue from this band of wonderful wandering minstrels .

This is a more restrained Blackmore, gone is the posturing, the enfant terrible. Here we have, often, the complementing of haunting medieval moods, wind, bells, the acoustic guitar. To all those parents who listened second hand to Ritchie's electric furies via the living room floor, absorb this eclectic beauty. If the electric guitar at the end of 'Gone with the Wind' does not make your spine tingle then you very well may be dead.

This is the follow up to Blackmore's Night first album and simply carries on from where the first one finished. If you have never heard Blackmores Night then please don't expect anything like Blackmores previous musical exploits. Its very hard to explain what this music is all about-just lets say it is some of the most beautiful songs you will ever hear.Anybody who listens to it cannot fail to be impressed with the vocals of Candice Night and of course the fantastic guitar playing(a lot of it acoustic) of the man in black himself.Just three words sum up this review--GO BUY IT!!!
