In a delicious twist of fate, Lady Astrid and Sir Tamhas meet as strangers in the dark of night, beneath the boughs of an ancient pine. Theirs is a giddy yet passionate exchange that leaves the pair breathless and obsessed with discovering the other’s true identity by the solemn light of day. But finding out who the other is will surely be torture, since each is already promised to another.

More About the Author

L.L. Muir lives n in the shadows of the Rocky Mountains and writes fiction between bowls of cereal.

If she could do anything she wanted, she'd travel and find stories that need to be told, listening to the ghosts of ill-fated lovers who need to be reunited if only in her novels. In fact, when she wandered through the halls of Château de Chenonceau one summer, she sensed... Well, perhaps you'll read about that one day.

Before writing full-time, she owned a flower shop called The Scottish Rose. She'd often answer the phone sounding like Mrs. Doubtfire...until a gentleman customer asked to speak with the Scottish woman who owned the place. A little embarrassing, that.

She's having a ball and hopes you enjoy the rides. Keep your arms and legs inside the vehicle at all times. Scream all you want.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun and romantic short story. 17 Dec 2013

I have really enjoyed everything that I have read from this author, so when I saw this short story I jumped on it. Who doesn't want a quick read during a busy time of year? Especially when it's from an author that you can depend on to entertain you. It's not a complex premise: set in 1157, girl will inherit father's estate, has been commanded to marry and has suitors presenting themselves for a chance to obtain the estate. A Scottish knight, and potential husband, arrives before his "entourage" and scopes out the village and estate "undercover". The two accidentally meet in the dark "Under the Kissing Tree" and sparks fly. Not knowing who each other is, the serious business of courting for land begins in the daylight, but neither can forget the nighttime encounter.....and the inevitable conclusion occurs. This author always writes with humour and develops beautiful romances. Recommended.

Oh this was so delicious. The historical setting in England. The Scotsman who has a heart of gold. And twin princesses. The kissing tree has real chemistry and clean mischief!
