Denise Dory is a top notch dectective with the Maryland police department, she has been the partner of Tom Phyfer an older hard nose dectective for the pass few years. The have work together so long they know each others habits, way of thinking and solveing a case. Each have feelings for the other, but other than as working partners they have not voiced their feelings. Denise is selected to go to Washington to work on a Special Task Force in order to solve a high-profile case.Tom and Denise miss each other much more than they thought they would. When a second murder is committed, Tom takes some of his vacation time pretending to just go to check on Denise, she is to glad to see him for two reasons one she trust him to help her solve the case , second she has realized she is in love with him , but is not sure how he feels about her. As they work with the other members of the task force two more murders are committed, Denise becomes ill, they suspect it was something done to her by the killer or killers, but still can't prove it. This incident causes Denise and Tom to admitt how they feel for each other, they set a gold. To solve this murder so they can return to Maryland to begin their lives together as partners for life.
