Book Description

Uncle Tom's Cabin; or, Life Among the Lowly is an anti-slavery novel by American author Harriet Beecher Stowe. Published in 1852, the novel helped lay the groundwork for the Civil War. The sentimental novel depicts the reality of slavery while also asserting that Christian love can overcome something as destructive as enslavement of fellow human beings. Uncle Tom's Cabin had a deep historical impact as a vital antislavery tool.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Well Deserved Excellent Classic 7 July 2013

After reading this classic, I now know that the term, "You're an Uncle Tom" should be the highest praise instead of belittlement. He was the most noble of men.

I also have the original version of Uncle Tom's Cabin on my kindle.
I wanted to get a quick version of the story and this was perfect for me.
I think everyone should read this to understand what these Americans
endured for their freedom.
Harriet Beecher Stowe was a true American Hero.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic kids version 27 Feb 2013
By Amazon shopper - Published on Amazon.com

I got this for my 8 year old son because his second grade class is learning about MLK and civil rights. We have read it together (so I could explain certain aspects and discuss the story), and it is a fantastic story that is a thought provoking learning tool. I would recommend this without hesitation. Note; my 8 year old son is a voracious reader who reads at a middle school level. He read The Hobbit by himself, so the book may be better suited to a 4th grade level.

This was a heart throbbing story of the battle in which so many of my ancestors fought. A story of loyalty, devotion and compassion. This story comes highly recommended to both young and seasoned readers. Thanks be to God for the changes made thus far although we have many miles to go.
