Wow! it's 2010 with this 23rd Edition in this fantastic series.Who would have thought it would continue for so long;and not only continue ,but keep getting better with each Edition?
This is a big one, with 544 pages no less.It has a mixture of just about everything. We continue to get the "bullets" at the bottom of every page.Short items, as well as longer and more detailed ones.In this edition,as usual, you're going to find the answer to all kinds of things that you've probably wondered about for years.Even if you are the type that never wonders about anything, and just takes life as it is presented to you, you're still going to read about all kinds of things that will not only inform you ,but amaze you as well. Then again, you may even find things here that really don't interest you,but that is not a problem, just turn a couple of pages, and you'll be faced with something that will.
Just to point out to someone who is "new" to these readers; the don't become dated.Any visit to your bookstore will give you a section with the latest as well as a shelf full of previously published Editions.I can't think of any other series of books that you can say that about.I have been a longtime fan of "Ripley's Believe It or Not!" and have a large collection of those books.Ripley's has been publishing them since I was a kid, continue to do so,and they keep getting better all the time. While there is a lot of similarity between Uncle John's and Ripley's;one great difference is that once published ,Ripley's soon disappear from the bookshelves---but not so with Uncle John'sReaders.
I have also remained faithful to some other things and it is disappointing when they disappear. My favorite comic strip for over 60 years has been Dick Tracy;but unfortunately it has been dropped from my daily newspaper. Also;Ripley's daily Cartoon has disappeared several years ago.Fortunately, they still come to to me every day via e-mail,and free no less. No wonder that people are questioning the survivability of newspapers and that many no longer subscribe to or read them. I don't know if Uncle John is available in a similar manner;but it would be great if it were. How about it,Uncle John?It would be a great treat to your fans to have something come to them daily.I'll be keeping an eye open for a note in one of the future Readers, that you have picked up on my fantastic proposal and that it is now available.
