Being a Canadian, I am the first to admit we are weird people! :) I love learning new facts to point out to my American friends on just how unique Canada and Canadians are.

A Half-Arse American Attempt at Canadiana 26 Jan 2014
By Kevin Burton Smith - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
What a great idea! I loved it. Some of the stuff was great.

Or at least the stuff that was true. And that's the problem with this clumsy attempt at Canadiana.

So much of this book is so riddled with glaring inaccuracies, dubious "facts," and outright lies that it calls into question everything about it, and reveals it as a cheap, cynical attempt to squeeze a few bucks out of folks who know diddley squat about Canada and are unlikely to question anything within its pages. And it certainly doesn't help that it's poorly edited, full of spelling and grammatical mistakes. There's also a sometimes startling lack of familiarity with even the most basic history and geography -- not just of Canada but the U.S.

The disproportionate amount of items (many of them questionable and short on specifics) that are dated 2013 suggests that much of this amateurish production was submitted by online readers just months before publication, and simply cut-and-pasted with no attempt to verify -- or even, sometimes, check for spelling or grammar.

As a Canadian myself, I just hope it was fellow Canadians tossing out tall tales and leg-pullers to a big American publisher to see just how gullible Uncle John's editors -- and readers -- are.

They've done it again! 12 Oct 2013

I thought I knew a lot about Canada, this book puts me to shame. A very educational and entertaining book. I am curious who proofreads for spelling, typos and mistakes, because there are consistent errors. Almost enough to make seeing and finding them part of the enjoyment of reading BR.
