Product Description

Product Description

In the tradition of many books reclaiming women's writing, the author turns her attention to the seldom-covered period of the seventeenth century and uncovers a magnificent and vibrant array of women insisting on their right to the written word.

5.0 out of 5 stars Everyone should read this book, 29 Nov 1999

This review is from: Unbridled Spirits: Women of the English Revolution, 1640-60 (Paperback)
Stevie Davies has worked wonders with this book. Many works on women's history and feminism sound like the author is whining about millennia without specific rights for women, but Davies doesn't whine. She lets the historical facts speak for themselves, and the facts scream loudly and clearly. Anyone who reads this book will hear.

5.0 out of 5 stars Everyone should read this book, 29 Nov 1999

This review is from: Unbridled Spirits: Women of the English Revolution, 1640-60 (Paperback)
Stevie Davies has accomplished something with this book that few, if any, other authors regarding women's rights and history have ever accomplished. She doesn't whine about the millennia through which women have lived while lacking specific rights. Rather, she lets the historical facts speak for themselves, and they scream loudly and clearly. Anyone who reads this book will hear.
