Not the best screen filter I've ever seen, but the price reflects that. It does the job but you can't see the screen very clearly after applying - there are lines running through it which activate the privacy filter, but these are visible even when looking straight at the screen.

Not very effective23 Oct 2012
- Published on Amazon.com
First of all, the product was received by the appropriate date, a few days in advance actually, and I have no obvious complaints about the seller.
The product on the other hand, well, isnt the greatest. I was hoping for something of higher quality for the price I paid.
When viewing the screen directly, it is darkened significantly to the point where I had to dial up the screen brightness (which drains battery life more quickly). This is of particular issue when you are in public and not plugged in - precisely those situations where you would want a privacy guard in the first place.
The privacy screen kicks in and starts to diffuse light at about a 40 to 45 degree angle, which I find impressive.
However, even when viewing the screen at an 80 degree angle (FROM straight on, that is, off to the side) from as much as ten feet distance, your activity is still plainly visible. Albeit, you cannot *read* the screen, not even from a two foot distance, at an 80 degree viewing angle, you can still plainly make out websites and activity in general.
So even though the privacy guard starts doing its thing at 40 degrees, it isnt that effective even at 80 degrees.
Furthermore, when viewing the screen straight on you can easily make out the vertical lines that are embedded in the privacy screen (which is what makes the device). It becomes a bit of a nuisance quickly, and even in the privacy of my home I want to peal the screen off.
Also, the screen I bought ended up being about a millimeter too big long-wise, even though I bought the right size. I feel compelled to cut a slice off, but I think that would probably be a bad idea.
All in all, Im happy with the fact that I now have a privacy guard whereas before I did not: I feel more comfortable in public. But, I would rather have spent $20 extra for something of higher quality.
I feel as though the seller may have been malicious in deliberately leaving out the effectiveness of the screen. Despite listing the viewing angle where the screen starts to become effective, the effectiveness on whole of the screen was never listed.
I give the screen 3.5 stars out of 5 and the seller 4.5 stars out of 5.
Didn't filter my screen4 Nov 2012

This privacy filter screen doesn't filter my screen. I looked at it from all angles, and all it did was dim the display. You could still see the document I was typing from every angle. Also, from a regular viewing angle, the resolution on my screen was distorted to the point of distraction - none of the colors were right, and the screen was covered in wibbly lines. I wanted to remove it not 2 minutes after applying it. I would not recommend this product.
