The big surprise on this album is the setlist. This is definitly the moodier side of Zakk Wylde, featuring many songs from his "Pride & Glory" and "Book of Shadows" albums, which along "Sonic Brew" remain my favourites from Zakk.
It is a rather slow paced, dark and mid tempo Live set offering a lot of space for the piano, the voice and the magnificient solo work of Zakk Wylde. I believe he delivers some of his best solos on this performance displaying a great deal of speed and feeling at the same time.
I don't know where the idea came from, but it's quite a great move to play the card of the slower and more laid-back tracks from his catalogue and involving in the process someone like Derek Sherinian on the keys.
The only downside would be the sound (especially the sound of the drums-hence the 4 stars)which is very muffled, and Zakk's low voice that gets sometimes lost in the low frequencies. But on the other hand this lack of "brightness" gives a very tight and heavy sound to the album.

The bonus tracks are pretty cool too,a mix of acoustic versions and covers.

This Live album really reminds me how great of a guitar player and a composer Zakk Wylde is!

His CD Book of Shadows is my top album of all time!
His last concert was awful (Bristol 2012)
This album shows a return to form even though it is mostly older stuff revamped.
I have always admired Zakk since I saw him play at the Gibson Guitar Anniversary Concert in London.
A superb guitarist but I feel much of his dexterity was wasted with BLS heavy metal music. But in all his cd's there are always outstanding tracks, I admit to preferring the quieter stuff to the heavy deep dark grunge.
The live DVD is certainly worth getting even though Zakk never cracks a smile. Is life as a musician really that bad?
To sum it up: A great double cd that is worthwhile having in your BLS/Zakk collection.

As a huge fan of Zakk Wylde i bought this to complete my collection. The only reason I gave it 4 stars and not 5 is that the material is all old and no new songs have appeared yet.I'm still waiting for "Farewell Ballad" to make it into circulation instead of just a YouTube clip. Despite all of that, this is the usual highly energetic and driven performance I would have expected.Buy this or "Kings of Damnation" as an introduction to Black Label Society and you will be hooked!

Cracking collection: for anyone new to the band I can thoroughly recommend this double album, as it perfectly showcases their music from ear shredding guitar riffs to the light touch of Wont find it here and House of Doom. Zach has a surprisingly good voice as well so unlike many heavy bands you can actually understand the lyrics.
