Well Worth a Read 30 April 2010
Format:Paperback
I bought this book because I'd seen a poster advertising it at a London station, and I was quite taken with the idea of Sugarfying my business skills. Say what you will about his manner with people, he's the ultimate inspiration for building a business empire (and getting rich) through hard graft rather than privilege. I've read a couple of biographical books about Sugar before, but didn't get much from them, so I was hoping this guide format would suit me better.

The book didn't disappoint. It's well written and clearly structured, and is full of sound advice based on Sugar's business style. The author's clearly done her homework, and picks out the key parts of his ethos. It's certainly made me think about how I'm running my business.

I notice there are several books in the series on other entrepreneurs like Jamie Oliver, Branson and Duncan Bannatyne. I liked the format so will read those too. My only complaint - where are the successful women in this series?

10 steps to success! 20 May 2010
Format:Paperback
Engaging, easy to follow business book that offers an excellent insight into Lord Sugar's business success, as well as tips and advice to help you run your own business. I found it extremely useful and have already applied some of the business methodology to my own company. Well worth a read.

User Friendly 4 May 2010
Format:Paperback
This is what I would call a business and management book.

It has chapters on how to create a product, how to sell, how to advertise, how to hire people and how to deal with all the admin of running your own company or managing someone elses.

I run my own small business with a small team and turnover that fluctuates years on year. So I don't want to get bogged down in the latest complex management theories or endless studies on how to understand economics. I also don't want a happy-clappy self-help book. Because I haven't got time to read it.

I liked Business The Alan Sugar Way because I could dip in and out of it, it was well laid out, and written in clear easy to understand English. It didn't burn my head out with numbers and I picked up five or six tips that have helped me in my day to day business.
It flowed very well.

One is KEEP IT SIMPLE. And this book practises what Sir Alan preaches> It keeps it SIMPLE. Hire in haste. Repent at leisure. All wise words.

If you want a simple business book to read on the train that is much more than a biography of AMS then I'd recommend it.
