The sole is leather with circular plastic islands for grip. This particular model also has breathing holes on the sides of the toe-box. All-in-all a great crawling shoe - but no good outside in UK winter weather.

This shoe is terrific, lots of flexibility. Unfortunately, the sizes are way off. When you order, make sure to go up a size, maybe two. I had to return mine because they were just too small.
