Product Description

Samurai warriors don't get wet. They dodge the raindrops using ancient techniques handed down to them by some doddery old bloke who looks like Mr Miyagi off The Karate Kid, Probably. Unfortunately, when it's really bucketing down, even a full-on shogun master needs a bit of help - and here it is in the deeply stylish shape of the Samurai Umbrella. Ideal for ninjas, noble warriors and anyone who's OD'd on badly-dubbed kung fu movies, this elegant nylon brolly features a realistic samurai sword-style handle, so you can protect yourself from the wrath of Kuraokami (that's the Japanese rain god). Push button opening. 95cm(L) x 100cm(Dia).

5.0 out of 5 stars Bad ass. 1 Jun 2011
I have been stopped by the police with this umbrella twice now and both times they found it hilarious. Maybe this is just the police in Cardiff? I've taken this umbrella with me on the train, police in Victoria station in London walked straight past me as did police in Birmingham Newstreet station.

The prongs show more than the picture here would like you to think and anyone standing near by can see it for what it is. They still look though as it's still a cheeky novelty. This is how I discovered it. I saw a girl wearing one in Tesco. I quickly worked out what it was but continued to stare in disbelief of how cool it was.

I did feel very self concious the first few times I wore it out but the more you do the more you realise that most people don't even notice (my parents didn't until I pointed it out) and the ones who do wont stop you. Some times someone asks me, with an expression of worried confusion, if I'm really carrying a sword. When I tell them it's an umbrella they laugh and say it's the coolest thing in the world =D.

This umbrella is bad ass and I recommend it to anyone with the bravado to wear it in public.

It's also very well made and sturdy, the arms are made of tensile plastic like a dome tent, not those metal arms which break all the time. The sheath and strap might require some maintenance after a while however.

5.0 out of 5 stars quality and style 31 Oct 2010
It's just fun, and the umbrella itself is the sturdiest umbrella i've seen in my life, (my short life... im only 20). be under no illusions, the handle is made of plastic. but its a strong plastic.

my friend bought the mini version and said it was disappointing, but I'm very happy with my full-size version. the only problem is walking down the street and having everybody think that you are carrying an actual weapon.

5.0 out of 5 stars samurai umbrella 27 Feb 2012

I was very impressed with the quality of this brolly. Very sturdy compared to other ones of the same idea, as there are indentical looking umbrellas with much poorer construction. You might feel wary while walking around carrying it on your shoulder while it is in its case, so it was easy to make a strap from an old laptap bag and use two small luggage label straps for each end of it, thus ditching the case and making the brolly more visible. Practise will easily find the best position for balance and carrying. This means that looking from the front , the desired effect happens! But from the rear view , it just looks like a brolly with a cool handle.Let's face it - if you wanted to carry a sword stick type weapon , you would buy one totally disguised as an umbrella. This is just an umbrella that looks like a sword. enjoy! I am 60 years old by the way and prefer to grow old as disgracefully as possible!I have recently updated this comment to show how i have customised my brolly collection to make the handles more realistic.( view customer images ).

5.0 out of 5 stars Best umbrella I've ever bought! 25 Aug 2012

This umbrella is incredibly well made, and shouldn't be discounted as just a novelty item. It serves its purpose of protecting you from the rain and foes alike brilliantly. I have been stopped by a few people, police and civilians, however most react well when they find out the items true nature.

Fun item bought as a gift, nice opening mechanism (push-button), plastic handle which does look a little cheap but overall a nice product.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good and Bad 7 Nov 2012

I bought one of these about a year ago and was very pleased with the product! It withstood much wind and rain, never faltering once! It didn't however, withstand a little 'accident' with a pole.

So I went to buy a replacement... and I got one... sort of. The umbrella I got this time had a silver metallic inside whereas the one before was black. It also had a metal structure inside where before it was strong plastic. Now you might think metal is stronger than plastic but not this time. The one we ordered earlier was much more sturdy.

It feels like this product has been cheapened somewhat but then it could be down to the individual seller.

5.0 out of 5 stars FANTASTIC 7 Feb 2012
Great quality really well put together, it has a simple trigger mechanism to open the umbrella out quickly for those sudden down pours. There are some really cheap and rubbish quality imitation samurai umbrella's but this isn't one of them ! Firebox who supply the products are fast at dispatching and you can be safe in the knowledge that they are securely parcelled in more then adequate packaging.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Product, Bad postage! 12 Aug 2011
I bought this novelty umbrella for my wife and she LOVES it. It is a lot of fun watching other people on the street stare at us, thinking it's a real sword she is carrying.
I would recommend this to anyone looking for that little something different, BUT be warned the postal carrier for this Item was Yodel, a new branch of DHL who have not heard the term "good customer service".

The package was not able to be delivered at a decent hour, we were kept on hold by the redelivery department for hours and when we drove three towns over to collect the package ourselves it took over two hours for the warehouse assistant to find our item.

in short, Samurai sword shaped Umbrella =Good

Yodel = Bad

3.0 out of 5 stars Pretty neat product if its not broken
I ordered two, one was broken! :-(

The one that worked is pretty cool. I agree with some of the previous comments that the sheath is too flimsy but hasn't broken yet.
