Colour Name: BlackSize: 5 Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
My nearly-five-year-old has taken to this jacket and due to the poor weather we've had this August, in Wales, he's had some use out of it.

It does seem to be waterproof, the manufacturer claims to a water column depth value of 8.000mm, this means the surface will withstand a coating of water to 8mm depth for a minute before any soaks through. I had to do an internet search to find that out and think that they have made a mistake, as an 800mm minimum depth is considered waterproof; I think they meant 8,000mm. Either way he has been out in the rain and come home dry.

The jacket has a fleece lining which is quite warming and became too warm over a t-shirt after a twenty minute walk in the dry, with a temperature in the mid teens (though, like me, he gets warm quickly). We'll see how the school walk goes, over a uniform of polo shirt and sweater; I've a feeling that early autumn will be too warm but later we'll get more use.

Being a shell jacket it is short and devoid of a hood, which may be a factor in deciding whether to continue using the jacket. We normally put our boy in waterproof trousers if the rain is heavy, so the shortness isn't a problem. The lack of a hood may be problematic though, if we can't find a suitable hat.

The black colour isn't particularly visible, though there is a fluorescent trim and reflective patches, these could be more dominant and I'll be getting a high visibility strap for the winter. It does look stiff but this is just the appearance of the material as it doesn't bunch and crease like other materials, but looks more like wet and dry suit material. Adjustable cuffs and hem ensure a good fit and there are ample pockets.

In summary: this is a fairly lightweight children's jacket, which seems to be suitable for moderately bad weather, though perhaps a warmer and more protective jacket would be needed for the depths of winter.

Colour Name: BlueSize: 4 Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
A lightweight outdoors jacket with lots of cleverly designed features - and a glaring omission. The size corresponds to age 4, but I feel that's misleading as it's still slightly too large for my son (who's 6), especially the length of the sleeves. The inside label gives a height reference of 104-110 cm, which gives a better indication as to what size is the correct one for your child. This powder-blue version comes with neon-pink and neon-orange zips (difficult to see in the photo), which wouldn't exactly be my first choice when buying a jacket for my son, but he doesn't seem to mind. There are two outer and two inner pockets, as well as a reflective stripe at the front and back, and the sleeves have velcro tab closure cuffs to ensure a snug fit. The outer material feels almost like a wetsuit and is, according to the manufacturer, breathable, and the inside is microfleece-lined and very soft, and no doubt he will stay warm and cosy in it. But as this is being marketed as particularly waterproof (a water column value of 8.000 mm - what does that mean?), why didn't anyone think of attaching a hood? Without it, the jacket can be as waterproof as they come, yet he'll still get wet as I can't see him running around with an umbrella. If I'd seen this in the shop, I wouldn't have bought it.

Colour Name: NavySize: 10 Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
This is a nice looking jacket with its smart navy colour and contrasting orange detailing. It's well-made, complete with stitched logos, zipped pockets, Velcro adjustable cuffs and hard-wearing shell fabric. The jacket is also waterproof, breathable and lightweight.

It's not really a big winter coat and is more suited to spring/autumn to protect against showers and wind chill whilst out and about. There is no hood, which is a bit of a shame, but then that isn't really unusual in soft shell jackets.

You may need to be careful with the sizing, although we got a size 10 (as in 10 years old), it comes up a bit small so I would say you would want to go at least one year older than your child actually is in order to ensure a decent fit.

As a practical, good-looking jacket, you can't go far wrong. Recommended.

This is a lovely jacket. It's really bright, almost neon pink...which doesn't show in the image here and will be perfect for cyclying/walking on or near traffic.

It is very good quality, looks fantastic, the sizing is generous with plenty of room for jumpers underneath. It will be great protection from wind...however it's a little stiff and could do with being softer inside. I'd also love a hood.

Overall though I'm pleased with this...functional and also cool according to my daughter.

This is a pretty sturdy jacket which is waterproof, warm when necessary - but not too warm - but has the fact that it is is designed for tough weather, but has no hood - which, if you want to wear it when it rains is practically useless. My son is 4 (and by no means large) and this is quite tight on him, so be careful on sizing which is not generous - and yes, I know its Size 3. Aside from the fact it has no hood though it is a good, waterproof jacket with no small visual style and verve.
