About the Author

John Shepherd is a well respected health, fitness and sports journalist. He holds a degree in physical education, together with numerous other sports and fitness qualifications, and was a regular member of the Great Britain and England athletic teams as a long jumper in the eighties and nineties.

Format:Paperback
I've been looking for a book to help me understand more about fitness training and health, and this was exactly what i needed. The author explains in a clear way many of the fitness jargons, that are used around like RPE , CV etc. it has also has useful chapters on exercises, nutriion tips, amd illustrations etc . if you a familar with buying ultra fit magaizne the uk version, then this book will be a great companion for you on those days and weeks when you are waiting for a new issue to be released, as it is written by the editor of the magazine you will be familiar by some of the things written in it. i highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to improve or even just learn about health , nutrition and exercise.

I'm just a beginner in the gym world and I thought this book would be too advanced but it isn't. It's easy to read and understand, well organised and the illustrations are excellent. I have read it and use it as a reference book so I think I may have to replace it next year when I've worn out the pages. Whether you're a beginner or, indeed, a personal trainer, I highly recommend this book.
