The WF-139 is a relatively basic lithium-ion charger from the Chinese manufacturer UltraFire, made for home users who aren't after a plethora of options so it lacks niceties found on some higher-end chargers like different charging modes (fast is all you get) and battery analysing. It comes with what looks like a non-standard (one side of the plug has a round connector and the other side is square) power cable and metal spacers for charging RCR123 cells. Nicely, the charger also has a 12V DC input jack on the side for using it in the car, although a car lighter adaptor unfortunately isn't included.

To use the WF-139, you do nothing more than plugging it into the mains and then insert up to two batteries into the charging slots; interestingly, it has four slots - two running length-ways and two running side-ways - but only the two running length-ways actually work as the others don't seem to be connected. The slots have their own charging circuits so each can be used independently of each other and the charger will monitor each separately. That said, there doesn't appear to be any particularly intelligent analysing going on here, the charger just stops charging when its timer runs down.

Charging takes between two and four hours for cells rated at between 900mA and 1800mA, with larger cells taking slightly longer; I've used it to charge 18650, 14500 and RCR123 cells and it has worked well in every case. I use protected cells which helps prevent overcharging and over-discharging, but it's still wise to remove batteries as soon as the WF-139 has finished charging them as it is prone to overcharging any cells if left to its own devices.

The WF-139 is a nice, uncomplicated lithium-ion charger for undemanding users who don't need a mass of options. It has the ability to take a number of different cell sizes and does work well, but you do need to keep an eye on it as it charges, as you should with any lithium-ion charger. My advice is to buy some good quality protected cells to feed it, which will help in this regard and give you some peace of mind.
