Good price and a good strong light. Bit too much visible spectrum light but that is probably common to most items of this nature

This product is of a solid design,But when I first put batteries in it it did not work,But if you just make certain that it is all screwed together tightly and the spring at the bottom is ok this item works fine you just need to tinker a little,And at this price you can not moan.

I bought one of these for use in a science project - to use with certain minerals that fluorescence under UV light. It worked perfectly, but it was so brilliant I knew both boys would want their own an immediately ordered another. This literally lights up a whole room with a black light effect. The effects for various science projects like using tonic water to make thins glow is stunning as well, but many ordinary things will look very different, almost glowing under this as well. A truly exceptional product and appears quite well made as well.

My sister bought me this torch as a stocking filler and let me say straight away that this torch is well made, but it isn't a professional U/V product. Mine doesn't make banknotes or rodents' urine glow. Mine was sourced from China and sent from Rotterdam. It is VERY effective with neon nail varnish and fluorescent highlighters. I've painted the fingers of my wall-clock and the dots of my aluminium dice for the fun of it. There will be dozens of imaginative uses

Having read the 'broxi' review, my nephew and I will be taking this torch to the Blue John mines at Castleton and we might be able to get some phosphorescent glow out of the calcium fluorite by grinding little bits of fluorspar under our heels. And we are looking forward to Halloween

The battery compartment can be accessed by either end and both ends have been greased and fitted with rubber seals to stop the ingress of water. I think it is designed so as to access the battery compartment via the bulb end. The switch end screws on so as the switch can be easily fitted when the torch is being put together at the factory, and its threads are left unfinished so as to complete the flow of electrons. Just load the batteries, flat ends to the springs, and then load the battery cartridge, nipple end to the LED bulbs end

As I understand it you need an LED torch that creates UV light that peaks in the 365nm - 360nm range if you want to be sure of a professional U/V torch for security, industrial and leakage applications - and professional products command professional prices - you'll have to recalibrate your price expectations and add a zero to that fiver

It worked intermittently for a couple of uses then died. It headed for the bin thereafter. The issue is the battery holder does not connect properly and slight movements can disconnect the light. Given the usage periods I wanted it for it was too unreliable.

I wanted a lightweight UV torch for reading faded inks on old manuscripts when working in archives. While this isn't the most powerful torch on the market, it is light, cheap, robust and can easily slip into a pocket. Most importantly, it works quite well when doing close-up work. That said, if used in such a way, I'd recommend buying a pair of UV safety glasses to go with it, to protect your eyes.
