5.0 out of 5 stars If you like leopard print and martinis... 29 Jun 2000
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
If you decorated a room whilst listening to this CD, you would probably end up with a retro-martini palace. Light, jazzy tracks mostly instrumental but with a few vocals. Perhaps a little 'elevator music-esque' for some people's taste but if you are a fan of lounge music, this is the album for you. Foot tapping and fun. Makes you want to get your capris on and samba round the room!

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing! 28 Sep 2013
By Jasmine
Format:Audio CD
I simply adore all the music on this CD! This is undoubtedly my favourite one which I've purchased from this collection so far. I'm so glad I chose it instead of something else. All the tracks on this CD are just so relaxing and chilled out. To me there would be nothing more pleasant than sitting listening to this CD in the garden on a warm summer's evening. Also there is a surprise bonus track at the end which is Fly Me to the Moon by Julie London. I just love this track. Personally I much prefer her version of this song to Frank Sinatra's. I would highly recommend.

Welcome to Bossanovaville!
You can imagine dining in a penthouse in the 60's over looking the city with a martin in one hand and a camel cigarette in the other, while this Title was playing in the background, This album for me is just brilliant if you have a liking for Bossa Nova them you will not be disappointed, i am so pleased that Capital Records have released not only this Album but one of 18 or so!! there are other title's to fit the needs of other interested such as 'Saxaphobia' And 'Organs form Orbit' also Fantastic,The booklet which comes with each Cd has been very cleverly thought of it holds old pictures of the 50's -60's adverts.
It includes the tracks, when they were recorded And what album they have been selected off!, and also how to make Martini's which i thought was very individual and clever idea.
As for the recording's they have all been 'Remastered so they will sound 'Swell' on anything you play them on!
I have the whole collection and wish there was more! I now have a broader taste in Jazz and Bossa-Nova thanks not only to this Title But all the others as well!!
For the people who decide to buy this title then Please Enjoy, for the others that don't, its your loss you will be missing out on a great Cd and collection.

So Stick Around, You're In Samba Town!! Suave!!

4.0 out of 5 stars So Hot It's Cool 5 July 2005
By John P. Morgan - Published on
Format:Audio CD
I noticed that all the reviews are pretty short, so I'll try and keep mine short, as well. I bought this album around seven or eight years ago when I was a bachelor and living in a 600 square foot backhouse. Because my personal dwelling space was so small, I wanted to create an illusion that my place was big, spacious and open and I did that not only through carefully choosing my furniture and accessories, but by creating a "big atmosphere" through the music I chose to play when I had guests over.

Whenever I played this CD at dinner parties I threw, people literally stopped and noticed the music. I had a few people snicker and say that the music was silly and outdated, but for the most part, people really seemed to enjoy it and paid less attention to the obvious fact that everyone was crammed in my little place like sardines in a can.

What I'm suggesting is that this music has a lot of heart, a lot of soul, a lot of punch for the buck. If you find yourself listening to the same old music, you might just want to pick up this CD and expose yourself to something so cool, it's hot.

5.0 out of 5 stars Solid entry in the Ultra Lounge oeuvre! 18 Feb 2003
By Brooke Pennington - Published on
Format:Audio CD
This is one of the more danceable collections in the Ultra Lounge series. It makes some of the best music I've ever heard for housecleaning or other mundane tasks--put it on and suddenly you feel like it's a hot summer day in a steamy South American city. It also awakens in me a strange desire to play this music, loudly, while dancing in the spray from a broken fire hydrant. As far as lounge music goes, this is fairly upbeat stuff. It's not so conducive to chilling as some of the other volumes in this series; in fact, I dare anyone to keep still while it's playing. This is a solid buy, and a great introduction to the bossa nove style of music.

5.0 out of 5 stars So Swank! 8 Aug 2001
By M. S. Tucker - Published on
Format:Audio CD
This CD is one of my all time favorites. It transports you to a tropical paradise as soon as you put it on. You can imagine yourself becoming part of the Jet-Set crowd and hopping on your intercontinental delight flight to Rio. Perfect for drives up and down the coast or just relaxing with your hipster pals at the beach. Shake that martini and listen to the hi-fi sounds of the supersonic cool!

5.0 out of 5 stars Have I got a companion CD for you !! 22 July 1999
By A Customer - Published on
Format:Audio CD
If you like the Bossa Nova lounge sound, you will really like the variations on the theme here in Bossa-Novaville. So why stop at this ?? ....You must get the coolest of the Bossa-Nova CD's: THE COMPOSER PLAYS - On this CD you will find only orchestral versions of the music of Antonio Carlos Jobim. Jobim brought the Bossa Nova sound to America in the early sixties !! You will find it listed under Antonio Carlos Jobim. I owned the original LP in 1964 and now it is re-born as a CD. You will love it. !!

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best in the "Ultra Lounge" series 20 Jan 2004
By M. Katayama - Published on
Format:Audio CD
This is by far one of the best in the ultra hip, ultra cool, "Ultra Lounge" series. For those of you who are new to the "Ultra Lounge" experience, thsi CD will take you back in time to the 1960's lounge era. This CD in particular has a very relaxing feel to it and although there are some songs that may sound a little cheezy compared to the true authentic bossa nova music from the pioneers like Joo & Astrud Gilberto or Antonio Carlos Jobim, it still delivers a good presentation of bossa nova inspired lounge songs. But some of the artists on this CD, such as Walter Wanderley, are in fact Brazilian. Finally, for those of you who are already familiar with the "Ultra Lounge" series, this is definitely one of the best in the entire series.
