I was so glad to find this CD, simply because it would cost a fortune to buy the original albums from which these tracks are taken. If, like me, you only have a passing interest in exotica, then this compilation should more than do the trick. I was interested to hear the work of Martin Denny and Les Baxter primarily because I had read that their use of tuned percussion, animal noises, and unusual instruments was an influence on Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys. I wasn't disappointed in that respect: there are theremins and bongos aplenty to be found here, and the Smile era obviously started earlier than any of us imagined...
